yamaguchi and the third years play volleyball as a hobby. even though they hate losing, at the end of the day it’s just a sports club for them. meanwhile kageyama and hinata are the only ones in karasuno that want to play volleyball professionally so they took their loss much harder than the rest of the team. these tournaments are important for them to be recognised. they’re still on the first semester so next season they will still be in the same year. school started in april and the interhigh tournament is in june. the next tournament although it is called the “spring” tournament, the qualifying rounds are in august and the tournament is in october. that will be in the second semester, which is also a stressful time for 3rd years because of exams and their future. which is why most only play the first semester. andy’s one sided beef with kiyoko is hilarious 😂

To be fair Andy, beach volleyball is generally considered harder than indoor volleyball. Playing on sand vs solid ground tires you out way faster and jumping is much harder. And playing outdoors with the wind and sun makes game play unpredictable. Just a little spoiler but not too revealing but I really hope we get the beach volleyball (mini?) arc in the future movies. —— Oops it’s Iwaizumi not Iwazumi 😅 —— You’re so right about having talent doesn’t mean you don’t work hard and you it’s a talent of its own to work hard. And I think having Kageyama be a prodigy is going to provide a little insight into this as he will have to work hard to get better despite everyone calling him a genius. Whether you are a prodigy or not, everyone is working hard to be the best. But that’s the thing if everyone’s putting in equal the work then it’s likely that the one with natural talent will be better than the rest. That’s what Oikawa says is the inevitable: even though right now Oikawa is the better setter, he believes that eventually Kageyama will surpass him. —— Spring High used to happen in the spring a long time ago but they changed it to January so 3rd years and scouts can have more time to show their skills and observe prospects before they graduate in March. I believe prelims/qualifiers for spring high happens from August-November and the actual tournament happens in January. —— Another thing on why Kageyama respects this team more than his last team is the fact that he’s a freshman in this team. In his old team he was the senior in middle school so he genuinely did think he was the best and most experienced in that team. And not to mentioned he got humbled real quick when he got benched during that middle school match. —— 2nd season intros are some of my favorites! Fly high especially is a fan favorite.
