...and it's a 200 EPISODE POD SPECIAL! 🎉  Full of BeeeeEErrf starring Novamber 2nd.

For this episode, we're sitting down to discuss Desperate Housewives, which is an American comedy drama series that aired from 2004 to 2012. This show hit the stratosphere when it roared onto TV screens alongside other giant shows like Heroes and Lost and captured the attention of 2 young, teenage batties in the form of Nova and Lymp.

Earlier today we posted a live reaction/watchalong to the pilot as a companion piece to the pod.

Congrats on the 200th episode! I Love these and am happy to hear you don’t plan on stopping. I always hated desperate housewives but I secretly looked forward to accidentally catching it when it aired. I stopped “accidentally” watching after Edie died :( Regarding your magic show! The title card and theme for “the Magnificent wondrous Lymp” needs to come back randomly in future vids! And yes hello! Yesss! I’d love a sequel. Maybe even a prequel about Lymp’s early days at Hogwarts before she learned such wondrous magic! You can maybe show clips of when Nover Beerf lived in that cupboard under the stairs and wasn’t able to go to magic school because she couldn’t get out. Thanks for always putting a smile on my face 😘😘

What about Dana Delany (Katharine Mayfair) being the OG Carrie Bradshaw? 😀 (just a random fact, idk why I remember these things)

I've watched a lot of TV, and the DH pilot is easily one of the best first episodes for an ensamble cast I've ever seen. We get to know EXACTLY who each character is, there's MULTIPLE mysteries established and a cliff hanger that leaves you in a chokehold. If you like DH, please please please do yourself a favour and watch Why Women Kill. It's the next evolution of Marc Cherry's brand of storytelling, and it should be way more well-known. Each season stands alone, with new cast and setting - so don't get too attached to the girlies 😉

Congratulations dear Olympia on your 200th episode. Your podcast is my safe, happy place that I can escape to at my desk at work when life gets intense or my peaceful sanctuary when I'm out running. Being 44 years old and some one who doesn't watch much telly or films I rarely know the subject matter (unless it's a mystery one - my particular fave), or I'm slightly too old to share your childhood memories, but I just love to hear you chatter away about the things you love. Please never underestimate the contribution and difference you make to the lives of us patrones. We love you xx

My particular skill is moving to a new town just as the local movie cinema is closing down. In this case I’m very happy that I’m arriving late as a new patron being the 200th podcast and it’s still going strong ! Quick note - I’m in the Australian Navy and I am obsessed with and horrified of shipwrecks. I’ve listened to your Titanic podcast quite a bit Olympia and I agree on so many things. I think it’s the name, it’s their “fate”, it’s the look of them coming out of the dark. I don’t believe in past lives etc but I have nightmares with that Titanic in there so often, almost monthly. It can be a totally different dream and there it is sinking in the background. My boyfriend at the time once said it was sweet I was shivering I my sleep and he hugged me - I was actually terrified dreaming I was on the shipwreck and telling myself not to look up. It doesn’t effect my work life at all which is handy ! I don’t associate the two. The movie have a massive effect on me and it was terror but I goggle it all the time. Weird. Thanks for your podcasts and videos Sharon. ( you aren’t a Sharon ❤️).

Oh I loved desperate housewives. Congrats on the 200th pod btw! Back to DH- I watched it when it used to air on channel 4 in an omnibus on a weekend. They used to show DH episodes and then episodes of the ghost whisperer with Jennifer love Hewitt. Now THATS a terrible show. Loved this episode and agree with you both that Edie was easily the best housewife. Xx

Another excellent pod as per usual! I've had this show on my to-watch list for a while, so I'll be moving it up in my queue knowing now it comes well recommended. It came out when I was 13 and didn't think it would be up my alley. PS I obviously have no idea what kind of person Nova's aunt is but there's something very immediate and vivid when I hear a relative described as "tricky" that tells you all you need to know. I certainly have tricky relatives lol.

Amazing pod dolls !!! So I have some tea on John Barrowman for you since you mentioned not liking him so I’m a big Doctor Who fan and he was a big part of the earlier seasons and recently within the last year claims have surfaced that he was exposing himself and flashing to cast members on set so he’s cancelled, so yeah your dislike for him isn’t unusual… 😬

Happy 200th episode you gorgeous arseholes! Thanks for the laughs, the spooks and the general buffoonery and here’s to 200 more 🥳❤️💖 I fell off The Desperate Housewives bandwagon a few seasons before the end, but this pod had inspired a rewatch. I don’t know if I even made it to the plane crash the first time round! I just wanted to say you two have been an absolute balm in some rather shitty times for me over the last few weeks. My shop was broken into two weeks ago and it’s been hell on toast getting everything sorted with the police & insurance etc, on top of me then getting covid in the middle of it all. But I’ve managed to escape into the magical, bewildering world of The Novympia Cult Lifestyle to make me laugh when I needed it most. Lots of love you gorgeous piece xoxox p.s. might drop you a DM about sending you some of my tat if that’s ok?

I made it to episode 170! I decided to savor the first go round instead of rush to catch up, but rest assured I'll be in the midnight society soon enough!

Omg, did you know Marc Cherry went on to create Desperate Housewives Africa, which is the exact same concept, but it's set on Wisteria Lane, Lagos??? I certainly did not.

I always think about the synonym girls where Mrs Norberry says “not one of those boys is cute” Like how did they advertise that role? “Ugly nerd wanted”?
