In her youth, Gisela Weber was East Germany's best Olympic gymnast. But then the wall fell and Germany unified... and Gisela for the first time in her life suddenly discovered all the decadent treats and temptations that Capitalism had to offer! It wasn't long before her waistline was expanding and her Olympic career was long behind her. We caught up to Gisela 30 years later to see how life in the West was treating her...

This is a departure for me: A commissioner asked for a story written in a Q & A format, like it was for a fictional magazine profile. I think it actually turned out rather fun! Getting into Gisela's voice was a lot of fun in this one. Fun fact, I actually lived in Berlin very briefly in this time period, so I was able to work in a few memories from my own youth into this story! I hope you all enjoy it! :)

Are you still taking commissions? If so, how do we request one?

Thank you again, Molly. I thought you did an excellent job adapting your style into journalistic form. Enjoyed Gisela sampling the fruits of democracy. (Metaphorical fruits at least.) I would like more of your roving reports for this publication. :)
