i think the differences in that era vs now was that back then there were shows that all kpop fans tune in such as gayo daejun, talk shows, award shows, and the idols usually put all their energy for these bc its the only places to showcase themselves. now with the online platform and waayy more saturated industry, everyone is scattered and so are the fans. so these kind of shows do still exist but ppl are not aware bc it doesnt feel like 'omg every popular group is in this show lets collectively tune in' there were WAY fewer groups in 2nd gen so fans feel like they know everyone, and every collab show felt grand. so things get under the radar now unless its a group you follow. also my favorite is when 2nd gen reminisce how male female interactions back then were well accepted lmao like sure jan. i remember all the crazies
