Hey everyone, I'm back with the rest of the update for the fourth scene.

First of all, you'll probably notice that it's a little different from the early rough version I posted a while back. I've decided to separate this scene into two shots. Now, I don't claim to be an expert cinematographer, but the specific action that a shot is focusing on usually shouldn't be limited to a very small portion of the shot, which is exactly what was happening in the earlier version. I felt it necessary to have the scene in a medium long shot to establish the relation between the character and her surroundings. Though the previous scene only focused on her body and the act of taking off her robe, in this scene she interacts with the record player from the first scene and also approaches the bed that she interacts with in the next scene so being able to include these elements of the environment in the scene was crucial. The issue is that her interaction with the record player is a pretty small action that is primarily limited to just her hand and the player. As a result, the medium long shot became somewhat unfitting, and I decided to cut to a close up instead.

Furthermore, you may notice that in the second part of the scene, I actually have a rough 3d model of the record player. There are three main reasons I made a model for it; first of all, it saves me time to be able to use a placeholder like this in the scene instead of having to spend the time drawing it, and having to redraw it in the event that I change the camera angle. Additionally, I needed to animate the tone arm of the player and since the shape of it is pretty complex, having the model really helped me animate it being moved by being able to create reference images for the key frames. Lastly, since the player appears in multiple scenes from different angles, having a model to reference will help me maintain the size and appearance of the player from scene to scene. However, I likely won't be refining the model any further since I don't currently intend to use any 3d assets in the final animation. I still intend to draw the backgrounds by hand.

That's all for now, stay tuned for more updates this month.
