"Excuse me, have you seen a short black haired girl?" Right now Darkness is questioning the students of the academy. "She's a crimson demon, and as one would expect she has red eyes..." That's such a cool sounding name.

The student sighs. "Yeah, I've seen her... She was walking around with Badigadi, I don't know what she wanted with him though." He then shudders. "Please don't tell me a crimson demon is about to join the school... The Quagmire is already scary enough." Fantasy racism!?

For some reason Nina's eyes widen in shock. "She's about to fight Badigadi!? Is she crazy!?" Considering she's Darkness' friend, the answer to that is yes, probably. 

Eris sighs. "She's a crimson demon, they're all nutjobs on one way or another... I actually met a few when I was younger, and they all shared one trait in common... they got along with Rudeus surprisingly well." That's definitely a bad sign.

Still, there's something else I'm curious about. "Who's Badigadi anyways?" Have I heard that name before? Honestly there are so many important people in this world that I don't know... Maybe I can make Lalatina read history books for me or something.

Nina frowns. "He's the demon king who defeated me and dueled Quagmire...!" She points at the annoyed student. "Why the hell is that many armed freak still here!? Shouldn't he have been kicked out by the Quagmire or something!?" Please don't say many armed freak, that makes us sound like the bad guys here...

The student shrugs. "Eh, he became a teacher as an apology for intruding..." He then glares at us. "And don't go screaming at me, you guys are the suspicious ones here! Who even are you people!" Right, we aren't even wearing a uniform...

Maybe I should have called Banana for help, instead of wandering around the academy, but in my defense I have a Darkness induced headache, and therefore my mind isn't working at full capacity right now.

The knight sends him a grateful smile. "My apologies for seemingly being so rude. Allow me to introduce myself as an apology, my name is Darkness, and I'm Subaru Natsuki's loyal and broken sex slave." And there she goes again...

One might imagine why I'm not immediately shouting at her to stop her debauchery, but... She has introduced herself like that to so many students at this point that it doesn't even matter anymore. And the worst part is that she sounds so proud of her new title, like someone proudly declaring they got a job on Nasa.

The student stares at her in disbelief. "I see... anyways, your friend should be on the courtyard close to here. It's impossible to miss, pretty sure there's a crowd building up there..." Right, Megumin is about to fight a demon king like a crazy person, so of course people will want to watch.

Honestly I don't even know if I should be worried about her, she's part of Darkness' legendary party after all. For all I know by the end of this the school is gonna be looking for a new teacher...

Lalatina gasps. "Oh no! Those fools won't survive!" Right! How didn't I think of that!? If a fight so high-level happens while people are watching, someone could get hurt! Or even worse!

We immediately start sprinting towards the courtyard, but it's clear that I'm the slowest one here... So Darkness grabs me and begins carrying me. "S-sorry about this!" I can feel my pride dying...

But who cares. "It's fine Lalatina! Just go as fast as you can!" People's lives are far more important than my ego, so I'm truly glad Darkness evolved into a taxi. Hell, her armor's primary colors are even yellow! Even if another yellow thing made them unusable for the time being...

And well... I'll admit that there is something exciting about being carried by someone so fast... The entire world is becoming blurry, and I'm beginning to feel sick from the speed. I can only hope I didn't secretly get poisoned by a frog again.

Before long we arrive at the courtyard, and just like the student had previously said, it's super crowded through all sides. Though the middle of it is full of empty space, filled with only two people... A tall, unbelievably muscular man with six arms, violet hair and dark skin... That's Badigadi for sure. 

The second person is a small girl, surely way too young to be here, she can't be older than fourteen. Like Darkness' said she has short dair hair and crimson red eyes, though there is an eyepatch over one of them... Did she get hurt I wonder? That's definitely not good.

Honestly she gives me the image of a prodigious young mage, specially since she's wearing a big witch hat, and that she's holding onto a equally ridiculously big staff. If she was a character from a JRPG no one would bat an eye.

I need to stop the fight between those two. "Darkness drop me." I... should probably reward her in some way for her legendary taxi services, shouldn't I? "As I thought, you're a woman who's only good at serving." I immediately want to die as soon as these words leave my mouth.

Nonetheless, Darkness blushes bright red, so I think this was good...? "Yes~! Use my body as you wish!" A few students are now staring at us weirdly... But we couldn't actually get the attention of everyone, much less Megumin, there's too many people here.

As Darkness releases me, I start to think of what exactly I should do... "We need to cut through the crowd and stop the fight, she won't be able to hear us in the middle of this mess." Can't she show some responsibility and stop the fight by herself! Please realize you're way too strong!

Nina nods. "Sounds good, but... We don't even know why they're fighting in the first place. Also, if the demon king does decide to attack us as well..." She scowls. "I can't scratch him, much less beat him." Well, he clearly is an endgame boss...

Darkness interjects. "Don't worry, if that happens I can hold him back for a few moments." That still doesn't eliminate the problem of civilian casualties, but I'll take what I can get.

I start trying to pass through the crowd. "By the way Eris, if any guy touches you, beat him up!" I know what kind of world this is! Which is why this Megumin chick should be thankful I'm even going through this risk at all.

Going through the crowd is a mess of noise, from people shouting at me, to me saying sorry... But through it I can sort of hear the little girl shouting. "Before your final moments, remember who you challenged! I am Megumin! An arch mage and mistress of the most powerful destruction spell of the entire world! Prepare thyself for soon you shall join oblivion!" Those words don't sound good.

The demon king laughs in return. "Very well, I shall give you one free shot then! Make sure to blow me away!" He sounds upbeat and excited, must be a battle maniac. "Just try not to miss with your one eye!" Don't mock a little girl for her disability!

Megumin sputters. "I-I'll have you know that I am not blind in one eye! My eyepatch simply contains and restricts a powerful demon eye of mine! That I do not use it against you, show how weak you are!" Why are my chuuni senses activating?

Now the demon king sounds curious. "Oh! Did my fiancee gift you one? She certainly didn't tell me about your existence... How about showing it to me?" So demon eyes are actually a thing...!

By the of his sentence I actually manage to get past the crowd, apparently doing so even faster than Eris, Nina and Darkness. And what greets me is a very embarassed looking Megumin... It goes without saying that to be safe I'm avoiding her eyes as usual.

She takes a few steps back. "N-no! Because you're unworthy! Yes, you are totally unworthy of seeing such wondrous powers!" She points her staff at him. "Now prepare for your demise!" Suddenly a dark aura begins emerging from her body.

I want to scream at her to stop, but seeing what I can only presume is mana filling the air is making me hesitate. It also doesn't help that Darkness, Eris and Nina have all broken through the crowd by now, and are also equally silent.

Even the demon king seems stunned. "Explosion magic!? Here!?" He raises all of his arms in a defensive stance. "To think a mad fool that would unleash a god-ranked spell so carelessly exists!" By now his shock has faded away, replaced by a excited smile.

Hey, I know you're a battle maniac and all, but apparently you are a teacher here, so please put a stop to her before she wipes out the academy! Seriously isn't god ranking the highest tier of spell imaginable!?

She slowly raises her staff, I can see the mana in the air visible darkening, concentrating on it. "Darker than dark darkness mixes up to make something even darker!" Is she chanting...? "That darkness shall wipe away all that is light, with one magnificent burst of dark light!" W-what kind of stupid chant is that!?

The demon king blinks in confusion and interjects. "Hey, that isn't the chant for the explosion spell... I heard it plenty of times during my life, so I definitely know it's wrong." For real!? This supposedly genius mage was messing up her incantation!?

Immediately the crimson demon lives up to that name, blushing up a storm. "W-well, the truth is that I can actually do chantless magic... for explosion magic specifically... But it's cooler with a custom chant, right?" My brain is telling me that you deserve a horrible fate, but my heart is telling me that you speak great wisdom.

Actually when I think about it, isn't this girl unfairly cute? She looks super... I don't know, but what I do know is that her voice is making my engine activate... What the hell am I thinking about!? She's definitely not old enough for the Subaru train! Ah... her chuuni levels are so powerful that I fell in love for a second, she's dangerous. No, it's more like I'm hopeless... I gotta make sure I don't look her in the eye.

While my mind was stuck in stupidity, the demon king started laughing. "You know what? You're right young one! That is why your tribe is always so amusing!" He grins. "Very well! Come and rescue your damsel in distress!" He puts his arms up again.

But before Megumin can do anything stupid, like blowing up the academy, I shout. "Hey stop that! You guys are causing a mess!" I need my voice to reach them now, before Megumin silences me again with her mana.

Thankfully my scream does the trick, as Badigadi lowers his arms and begins staring at me, a face full of... astonishment? Shock? I don't really know how to describe it, it's like he's seeing a ghost. Quickly his expression shifts to anger however, and just that is enough to make me flinch.

I'm thankful that he doesn't attack me immediately, I don't know why he's mad in the first place either... I'm guessing it's because I interrupted this duel? Give me a break, of course I'm gonna put a stop to something so dumb.

The little girl however, immediately acts, pointing her staff at me. "You...! Stay out of this or you're getting a taste of excellency as well!" Great, she's not listening to me. As expected of the standard young genius, she's cocky as hell.

Thankfully Darkness is here, so she shouts too. "Wait Megumin! Even I know you're not foolish enough to use explosion magic here of all places!" I'm just surprised the student body is stupid enough to say here and watch.

Megumin's eyes widen, a smile appears on her face. "Darkness...! You're here!" It seems she's glad to finally meet her friend, hopefully that happiness will stop her from blowing up a whole god damn school...!

I have seem just what Nina and Eris can do as Saint-Ranked swordswoman, I don't need to see what someone who's three ranks above them can. Specially when magic is typically more aoe oriented... Though I could be wrong of course.

Darkness rushes to her friends side, I too follow and with me so does Eris and Nina. To my surprise, Megumin actually engulfs Lalatina in a hug, the knight awkwardly reciprocating her affectionate move.

The little mage is basically squealing out of happiness. "I'm so happy...! After what happened to our most important teammate I almost lost all hope!" Oh no...! Is this related to that damsel in distress thing?

Darkness ends the hug. "Just what happened Megumin!? My comrades here can help!" She points at Eris and Nina. "These two are powerful praticioners of the Sword God style!" She then points at me. "Oh, and that one is my master." Please don't tell your friend that.

Also, I'm getting more and more worried as time passes. That gigantic demon king is still silently glaring at me after all, and it's awakening pretty much every survival instinct that I possess... I definitely can't fight a demon king.

Nina waves at the little girl. "Yo! You're Megumin right? My name is Nina Farion, I'm a Saint-Ranked swordswoman of the Sword God style." The mage nods, though she doesn't seem particularly impressed...

Eris glares at her blue haired friend. "You're doing it wrong stupid. Have some more respect for their culture..." She then sends me a look. "Rudeus taught me that stuff like this can be super important to survive in this world, so pay attention." I don't trust anything that Mr. Scumbag says.

To my surprise Eris draws her sword, stabbing it to the ground, though she's still holding it by it's hilt with one hand. "I am known as Eris Greyrat! An accomplished adventurer who has braved through the deepest pits of hell when I was but a youngling! My hands have been forged by superds and Beasts! And my blade is praised by the heavens! Reaching light itself...! It's nice to meet you." What...?

No, seriously. What did I just watch? And why does the small mage look so happy now!? And even worse, she's sending me an expectant look, as if she's hoping I'm about to have a even more chuuni filled introduction.

Now just how should I go with this? There are so many possibilities that my mind is racing. I had a chuuni phase once too, in fact my whole popularity was built with the power of over exaggerating things to make people laugh. This is apparently part of her culture though, so I don't wanna make a joke about it. Eventually I arrive at my perfect conclusion, the perfect art...!

There's only one path forward! I raise my index finger, puff my chest and you know how this goes! It's the Subaru threadmark pose! And obviously I have to look her in the eyes while doing so...!

Ah, this is bad. I just felt a shock run through my body... I got so lost in my chuuni delusions that I forgot my most important rule and now she's blushing bright red... I definitely didn't do thin on purpose by the way, no matter what anyone says! She does have a cute voice though...!

I fight through this embarassing situation and start my introduction. "If you're asking for my name... Then you are a foolish brave woman indeed! Stand proud, for you have met Subaru Natsuki! Follower of stars, and the one known as Purge King! I have received many a blessings and it seems our meeting is yet another!" Got it? 'Cause Megumin? Heh.

The little girl, who is apparently my soulmate has stars in her eyes. "You're... you're both so cool! Are you two secretly crimson demons too!?" She's ignoring Nina, much to the swordswoman's confusion.

Eris waves her off. "Nah, but I met a few people of your tribe before." What kind of culture produces chuuni's!? "Thanks for the compliment though! Your magic back there seemed pretty strong too!" My girlfriend is grinning, of course a meathead would get along with a chuuni.

Megumin quickly nods, and then turns to look at me. The blush on her face is as red as her eyes. "S-so what did you think of it, Purge King!?" She's actually calling me that!? Well, at least it's not B Rank... Ah, I'm officially a fraud.

I smile. "It took my words away, I was lost in it." That's the truth, just like I lost myself in her eyes... What did I just do!? Am I stupid or what!? How the hell am I gonna go criticize Rudeus when I do shit like this!?

Well...! Maybe she's secretly a thousand years old or something...! Yeah! Who am I kidding? I looked her in the eyes because I was hoping to make a cute loli my plaything. I will be kidding myself if that's the case! There's no way I'll ever accept something like this!

She melts. "Just wait until you see the whole thing Purge King...!" I don't want to see the whole thing! "It will blow your expectations away!" It will also blow my body away!

Before she can do anything crazy, Darkness puts a hand on her shoulder. "Wait Megumin, you must put an end to this duel! You are jeopardizing master's safety!" She frowns. "And I imagine the faculty is about to intervene soon..." Considering Rudeus beat Badigadi, they're probably sending him.

Hah, I hope I don't see that bastard! Could you imagine, making a young girl fall for you? I wonder where I can buy some rope so I can go meet Goderis permanently. This time I have a feeling she will send me straight to hell though.

Megumin protests. "B-but...!" And then suddenly her eyes widen. "Wait a minute, master? Actually now that I think about it, didn't you call Purge King master before too?" Her face is becoming more and more pale. She definitely knows what Darkness is all about...

Darkness proudly... and lewdly smiles. "Yes! You see, this..." She suddenly throws herself into the floor, hugging my feet of all things. "Wonderful man became my master! I am now his sex slave!" She's screaming those words without restraint. 

And she's not stopping now either. "That's right! It doesn't matter if you call him Subaru Natsuki or Purge King! I, Darkness, an S-Rank adventurer... have become his toilet!" Yep, I gotta find a rope soon.

It doesn't help that Megumin is sending me a look filled with utter disgust. It wouldn't surprise me if our soulmate schtick ended right here and now, our bond shredded apart by the power of Darkness' sheer existence.

And soon after her declaration, Eris puts a hand on her shoulder. "Don't misunderstand though, I'm his girlfriend! Besides, I'm an A-Rank adventurer and a Saint-Rank! People called me Mad Dog and I was part of Dead End! So there's no way I'm inferior to some concubine!" The only dog here is Lalatina.

I can hear the crowd whispering. "Hah? Dead End...? I think I heard the name of that party before..."

"Subaru Natsuki? I heard Quagmire was crying and muttering that name in the library..."

"Darkness...? Actually now that I think about it, isn't that mage Megumin? What are those legends doing here!? And why is one of them this guy's sex slave!?"

"Hey, I actually saw this Subaru Natsuki wandering around with Silent Seven Stars the other day... And she never leaves her room..."

"Isn't that blue haired swordswoman by his side Nina Farion? She's the daughter of the Sword God right? I heard she came here some days ago, but what is she doing following the Purge King...?"

"Dude, now that I think about... If you passed through the student council's room earlier today, you could hear the president weeping his name..."

It goes without saying that my life is over, and whatever reputation I may have obtained in the future will never see the light of day. Thank you Darkness, thank you Eris. Well, it's not like I'm attending this school anyways, I guess...

Megumin is red on the face. "What the hell Darkness!?" She looks at me. "And I don't care how cool you are! Let my friend go! Now!" She points her staff at me, I may be blown away after all...

Darkness responds quickly. "You just don't get it Megumin...! This was destiny! That's right I'm just a side piece belonging to Aqua's boyfriend!" I'm not actually your party member's boyfriend, make sure to remember that because Eris is now glaring at you.

Megumin gasps. "Aqua was actually telling the truth!?" She then glares at me. "And what the hell are you trying to pull off!? You're aiming for a hundred percent completion rate!? Are you gonna catch the whole party!?" So you think you're gonna be catched already? Wait a minute, how do you even know that reference...! Crimson demons are weird.

I sigh. "Look, let's leave this talk for later! We need to scram before the faculty strangles us!" Or the very silent demon king does that! He's still looking at me with a rage filled expression after all!

She pouts. "But...! There's no way... I get that cool evil sounding guys need slaves, and this is Ranoa, but at least take off the sex part!" What does that even mean!? "And don't date Aqua! You need a cooler evil queen! L-like a mage!" Soulmate stuff again huh...?

Eris interjects. "Hey, Aqua isn't his girlfriend, I am." Yeah! Though you aren't that evil, the true monster here is Nina... Who's just watching the show with a grin on her face, as expected of someone like her.

Megumin groans. "Oh, come on...! Now I can't even call your girlfriend uncool!" Then just don't do that. "Anyways, I can't leave because..." She points her staff at Badigadi. "This jerk took Chomusuke! And he doesn't wanna give him back!" Why did he take a cat!?

Immediately Darkness gets up, drawing her sword and pointing at him. "Unforgivable, there's no way a warrior of the faith such as I could ever let something like this slide!" She doesn't even sound like she's here for masochistic pleasure!

To my surprise Badigadi finally responds. "Very well, I had contained that beast, for his aura was like that of a god." Are you sure you're not just a cat thief? "He is in the room this academy lent me, there is no need for any more duels little girl. He's yours." 

Megumin's face is filled with disbelief. "Huh? Why...? Before you said I could only get him back if I proved myself worthy of containing him with a duel!" Two of the strongest people around where about to fight over a cat. Understandable...

He sighs. "I know, but if that man is your ally..." He glares at me, it makes my body freeze. "I have no idea how your foul self returned, but... I have learned long ago that standing against you will just lead to certain and cruel defeat. You are the type who crushes one's body, mind and spirit after all, turning one's soul to dust." Since when!?

He turns around. "I will be leaving this academy, I know not what dastardly scheme you are planning, gazer of the dark stars, but know that I wish to have no part in it... Please spare me." And then he begins to walk away.

Immediately Megumin whispers to my direction. "So. Cool." Sadly her whispering is mostly drowned out by the the crowds far louder whispering.

I try to listen to one of them. "He made Badigadi run just by showing up!? Not even the Quagmire pulled that off...! Who the hell is this Purge King!?" I don't know how to feel about this.

I am glad the name B Rank never had a chance to leave the Holy Land of Swords though!
