I asked the highest tier, here, which character they wanted to see sketches of next, and Red won by a hair.

I wanted to draw her doing an AK reload for a while, but the length of the rifle leaves a lot of lateral space. I had to draw it first to prevent the muzzle from going off the page. That, and AKs are just hard to draw in general. It's a stubbornly modernized dinosaur. But nice.

Whooo. Red is so awesome. She should take Jeremy with her to the range sometime.

Hope that’s not a vintage Bakelite mag, Red, or that’s about to be a *very* expensive reload.

Debatable. On natural ground, it'll probably be fine. A bakelite can chip or crack a bit, where a metal mag can dent and corrode.

I suppose it depends on the terrain, how much UV exposure they've had, and whether or not it's part of a run with reinforcements in weak areas. I had two ancient Tulas fall off the tailgate of my truck onto gravel a couple years back and both of them broke. One snapped a feed lip, the other split along the front mold seam. Was able to glue the second one back together, but the remains of the feed lip from the first broke into a thousand tiny pieces. That was an annoyingly expensive range day, since those two mags alone cost more than every single G3 and FAL mag I have combined.

Ah, that sucks. I have a whole load of them I bought cheap back in 2003 or so, for a 5.45 AK. I don't use them enough, or leave them out, to really test their durability. I like the platform, but dealing with ARs is just so much easier.

Jay, what is the significance of the symbol / Logo spray painted on the stock of Red’s AK-74. Thanks.

It's a hammer and sickle with a line through it. As in an anti-communism symbol.
