I was going suggest black with white dots for stars but maybe for the more mystical wonders of space how about purple or dark colors. Imitate the Aurora Borealis

Ok, just to clarify, they were already an intelligent race right? Not mindless animals. It’s just that the term “uplifted” in sci fi often refers to a mindless animal that was given human intelligence. But I gather here you are just using the term to mean “non space race being given the ability to become a space race”.
