I have some exciting information to share today -- some news on both an upcoming video on the channel as well as a video that will remain entirely exclusive to Patreon!

First, let's discuss the next video on the channel itself. As I'm sure you gathered from the thumbnail, it will cover the 1994 MS-DOS game Descent. This will be in a format similar to other "overview" videos on the channel, discussing the features of the game and some historical info. Shaking things up a bit, this video will be from a Descent newcomer's point of view. Descent is a game that I have intended to play for quite a while, and I've very recently had the chance to sit down and properly play it at length.

When capturing gameplay footage for overviews, I refresh myself by playing some of the game and write the script first. I can then use the script as a guide for what portions of the game to record. This goes a long way towards reducing the time the video takes to create, since I am able to skip portions of the game and record only the footage I need. However, Descent is the first overview to cover a game I have never played before. To save time in the long run, I've been recording footage while I play through the game blind. Admittedly this does take quite some time, however, it will save time in the long run.

That said, I believe the video will be all the better for it. To ensure the channel doesn't go without an upload for an extended period during the production of this video, I'll be recording a relaxed gameplay video (w/ commentary) to fill the gap. I haven't decided which game this will be quite yet, but I'll be recording and releasing it very soon.

As for the Patreon exclusive video -- it will cover the process behind recording B-roll. I'll be doing a deep dive into the whole process, the camera work, lighting, etc. Personally I really enjoy peeks behind the curtain in the production process, and I think this topic is perfect as a Patreon exclusive. Work has already started on this one, so expect it here before the release of the Descent video! If there's any part of the process you would like to see please leave a comment on this post. I'll be sure to include it in the video if you leave a question or suggestion before it's finished. (I'll post a reminder before I export the video, just in case!)

That's all for now! I hope you're looking forward to what's in store for the near future. As always, thank you so much for your support. :)
