Completely true about Italians kissing on the lips. I brought a friend home to visit back in the 90's and my 80 something grandmother grabbed her face and smacked her right on the lips. I didn't really notice meaning, I was there and saw her do it, but it didn't even phase me as being something that would make anyone uncomfortable. but later my friend told me she was in complete shock and once she recovered washed off her lips in the bathroom. LOL!

This is a tangent, but it relates to this episode and previous episode topics. My dad was an actor for 35 years until the union and writers' strike in the late 90s and early aughts. Ironically, he relied on getting cast Italian American and other ethnic stereotype roles because he is 100% Sicilian and looks it. But by then, he was over 50, and those roles he relied on ended up be rewritten for POC actors. He started selling on eBay to make extra income which in turn became his full-time job when he could not get work as an actor ever again. My mom went back to work around the same time but could only get part-time retail, so she started selling handmade jewelry online. They’re both in their 70s now, and they will never be able to retire. My parents were hanging onto my dad’s insurance through SAG/AFTRA because he was still receiving residuals, but last year SAG/AFTRA dropped them. Long story short, there is no silver lining in side hustles. My dad blames NAFTA as the beginning of Hollywood's end because it stopped working within unions became more about making more significant profits for investors than sharing good storytelling and talent. NAFTA continued the degradation of many industries in the US. Hence why Trump promising to bring jobs back to the US hit close to home. It’s not a surprise that Etsy and other websites exploit side hustles because they don’t have to pay sellers any benefits. Those that have benefits and high incomes are the educated coastal elites that work in devs or business for those companies that are raking in the riches from nearly millions of sellers that they don’t have to pay unless they sell, which these companies still take a cut. I think on Etsy, and they take 30%. This economy is modern-day serfs with a palatable marketing image.

Why tf should we be worried about some biblical ideals of ‘original sin.’ How about the economic disenfranchisement that’s been perpetuated en masse since ‘08 alone? We can acknowledge our history and solve the problems of the present.... ‘We’re sorry money’ completley misses the point of lifting poor POCs out of generational poverty. End the war on drugs, actually tax companies and the wealthy and update our infrastructure for global climate change. That’s a much better mea culpa than one time reparations and it helps ALL poor people. Of Whcih there are plenty Hispanic, white, etc.
