“This movie embodies everything that is disgusting about American culture, which is revenge, credentialism, and furries.”

I thought the film was supposed to seem vacuous and I’m just realising now how charitable I was being?

Sam Broadway

you should review the latest Olivia Wilde movie - she plays a woman trying to get revenge on her domestic abuser. could’ve been a double feature

What is with British culture being obsessed with America?

"Yeah, like, some people will probably claim I made a 'horrible' movie, lol" "WELL NO ONE'S SEEN IT YET, LOL" "Ye...ah... it... remains to be........ to be seen..." Damn ladies how come you don't do ad spots

I thought Promising Young Woman was pretty good. Given the subject matter, I thought it was a hard one to pull off. Carey Mulligan made it work. If it would have been a different actress I think it could have been very cringe and fallen flat. Perhaps my low expectations for the film going in is why I enjoyed it. Also, I'm holding it to the same standards as like the Hangover or World's Greatest Dad, not anything that Ari Aster or Robert Eggers would come out with. Not a perfect movie, but I found it entertaining - I wasn't anticipating that it would be a movie that would make me 'think'. Just found their review to be very reductive. I also saw it in theaters.

I think the film was meant to be like a comic book at least that was the aesthetic.

carl

i turned on npr at noon as well, not sure what time it started. it said “joe biden is now officially...” -whatever so i turned it back off

I was gonna say cheers Anna for not even bringing up the Celine ad but then they celebrate it in the introductory paragraph of the interview 😭

carl

the bernie meme was very depressing

Ladies would love your commentary on this tweet. It feels like a sentimental hunger gamism to me. https://twitter.com/Thund3rB0lt/status/1353059226076123136

Cara

I know this is an oft discussed trope but it really is wild how every white girl protagonist in these movies has an eternally supportive black friend/mentor to legitimize them

Hey guys. I just want to say thanks. Because I steal your stuff all the time to try and joke with a close estranged relative.

Anonymous

anna you’re thinking of jesse plemons i think

I thought the poem was weak but the fact she had a speech impediment made it kind of badass. Unless that is another psy-op.

Anna's Rupi Kaur poem impression killed me lmao

Anna can you tell me what retinol you like best?

Anonymous

super disturbing video because the implication is that lower-income members of the working class can now only afford housing if it’s gifted to them by their bosses. super grim.

Charlie Rose gets Rodney King Riot commentary during Didion’s 1992 appearance.

joan didion is on the spectrum. she has no agenda.

Anonymous

because it is so much more interesting than their own. they also like to be condescending.

Crazy how Retinol isn't in the tags

Anonymous

So ladies...or anyone, which retinol brand is your fave?

Nico

tag: revenge

It's prescription. Tretinoin/retin-a. Brand does not matter unless you prefer German over Indian manufacturing...
