You guys are 100% essential industry. I think at this point we are all living in a personal simulation of our own making. At one point you referenced something that purported that it was in the financial interest of owners to extend the lives of their African decent slaves. I think that this is incorrect, at least as a blanket statement. First, it would only be in their interest to extend the economically productive part of their slaves' lives. This is in conflict with the fact that the rate at which value could be extracted would be traded against the amount of time they would remain productive (e.g., back breaking labor versus light labor). Second, this assumes that there wasn't a business model that involved grinding the slaves into the ground, while simply back filling with either more imported slaves, or slaves that were born from other slaves.
