seroroki college AU

In which skater Sero and preppy Todoroki keep running into each other at loud frat parties, and one time they decide to make the best out of it.

THREADFIC

Maybe it starts as a fling, nothing serious, really. They're just too ill-assorted, frequent totally different circles. And Shouto's father, the effing dean himself, doesn't even know his son is gay.

But Shouto can’t deny the way he feels when, at the umpteenth frat party, he meets again that unpretentious boy and his easy smile. They barely even know each other, still Hanta cheers to him across the crowd of dancing students and then downs the content of his red cup.

And Shouto can’t help but approach him, later, as he spots him alone, leaning against the railing that leads upstairs. Hanta has a new red cup in his hands and nods at him, unabashed, as he lets interest show in his eyes.

So Shouto closes the distance and steals his drink, toasting one up just like Hanta did. Then he swallows some liquid courage, relishing in the way Hanta’s stare follows his every movement.

It doesn’t take much more for them to end up fucking, quick and hushed, to avoid getting caught by someone else stumbling into the empty bedroom on the second floor.

They don’t say anything, after. They zip their pants up and stand awkwardly in front of each other. Then Hanta strokes his thumb over Shouto’s lower lip and gives him a light peck, just before leaving.
The door clicks closed and Shouto finds himself groaning in frustration.

The next morning, Shouto does and redoes the buttons of his shirt, distractedly. He’s kind of worried that Hanta is going to talk and laugh about it all with his clique. That Hanta’s rowdy friends would elbow each other knowingly, as Shouto passed them on his way to class.

Shouto sighs heavily, fixing his cuffs with a glance in the mirror. There’s nothing he can do about it, now. What is done is done. And he has no intention of taking the longer route around campus to avoid the spot by the gates, where Hanta and his group usually hang out.

But it’s not there that Shouto finds him, when he finally steps out to start his school day. Because Hanta is resting with his back on the brick wall just out of Shouto’d dorm building, idly smoking and pushing back and forth the longboard skate by his feet.

For a long second, Shouto can only stare. His lips tingle with the memory of that last kiss Hanta gave him the night before.

Then Hanta notices him. He puts out the cigarette against one sole of his beat-up Vans and kicks up his skate.
"Hey", he simply says with a smile.

There's something soft in his eyes. Earnest.
"Hi", Shouto answers quietly, the fabric of his slacks shuffling, as he relaxes the fists he unconsciously tightened in his pockets.

He takes a breath and goes down the porch stairs, falling into step beside Hanta.
And he thinks that maybe, just maybe, this could be so much more than a one-night stand.

Trivia:

- In this AU, Sero is a physics major and a math nerd.
One night, after maybe a few too many drags of weed, Denki spaced out looking at the Fibonacci spiral on his arm and flat out asked him why on earth he got a goddamn duct tape tattoo. And so, Sero became the Tape boy.

- The dean Todoroki Enji has little to no time to spend worrying about the discovery of his son’s sexuality… because his middle-aged, divorced, grumpy ass is having quite the crisis of his own over the new lit teacher on campus, one professor Takami Keigo.
Cue Enji that tries asking queer stuff to his son for “““pure and simple academic interest””” and Shouto noping out of the conversation as fast as humanly possible.

- Shouto realizes that oh, he has fallen in love, hasn't he?, one night when he and Hanta are laying lazily on his bed, basking in the afterglow, and Hanta is stroking circles over his shoulder with a thumb, and for some reason, he's trying to explain to Shouto the laws of thermodynamics.
