GARRETT BORDEN (AKA Surfer Son of Sting) INTERVIEW NOTES from ITW (Airing Wednesday, March 13)

- Garrett says the last few days have been great and have blended together

- He does not know the lyrics to "Man Called Sting", though he says he and his brother were sheltered from the wrestling world

- In the last few years, Garrett and Steven have spent time watching old Sting footage and have gained a new perspective on Sting and his career.

- As a kid, Garrett used to approach his friends' dads and ask them for their autographs because he saw his friends asking HIS dad for autographs

- Recently, Garrett went back and rewatched the reveal and debut of Crow Sting in WCW, saying it was one of the coolest things he's ever seen, especially with the context behind it.

- Garrett found out in early January 2024 that he and his brother would "for sure" be involved in Sting's Last Match, but the conversations also began in January of 2022.

- Garrett had 7.5 weeks to prepare for his role in the match, and it was assumed that Garrett would be Surfer Sting and Steven would be some variation of Crow Sting.

- The 1990 Great American Bash gear required a couple of small alterations - the jacket had Velcro added to keep it closed and they had to tape the top of Garrett's boots because his calves were too big.

- The Stinger Splash spots in the match were discussed the day before the match and set in stone the day of.

- Garrett will be keeping the blonde hair, saying it was a shock at first, but he and his wife realized it looked good.

- Garrett says he had one split second where he thought the pop was for him until he realized it was the audience thinking HE was actually Sting.

- On reacting to Sting coming back to wrestling in 2020, Garrett says he and his brother were excited for him because they all knew Sting had more left in the tank, and that Sting himself is very happy with the retirement.

- Garrett saw the ladder jump spot from June 2023 on Instagram and immediately called his dad about it, but he had no idea about the big spots Sting was going to do in his last match until they happened.

- Garrett has been playing Destiny since 2014, since the Alpha version, and his brother-in-law suggested he make YouTube how-to videos about the game, and his wife pushed him to pursue a career in creating Destiny 2 content.

- With his new following through wrestling, Garrett has been given an opportunity to branch out into new games and feedback.

- Growing up, Garrett was a huge Zelda: Ocarina of Time fan and would complete it every summer when he was younger. He also loves playing Skyrim, Elden Ring, Dark Souls, and many open world games.

- Garrett was a Nintendo kid, playing Mario, Zelda and Pokemon games.

- While he hasn't been into sports games, his followers have been pushing him to try AEW Fight Forever and Garrett says he'd like to play.

- Garrett loves metal, especially Silent Planet (he used to share a dorm with their singer, Garrett Russell, who also asked him to play guitar with him) As I Lay Dying, Underoath, Fit For A King, and many others.

- Garrett is also a guitarist, and he owns a Gibson SG, Fender Telecaster, and a Takamine acoustic guitar.
