Heya Tier III!

The combat rework is done and ready to be played (read tested ;p) by you guys! Undoubtedly there will be some exploits/bugs that I've missed, so be sure to report those! >:3

Since so much as been changed in the base code I advise you not to use old saves with this version! Apologies for the inconvience; I'll try to refrain from this in the future! :#

Changelog (V0.16.2):

Combat rework:

- Redesigned the battle code behind the screens: Much smoother, more modulair and much easier for me to work with!

- Enemies now have 2 basic attacks that they can use!

- Status and capture attacks now have cooldowns so that the enemy can't spam them.

- Player stats like defence, evasion, luck and special defense are now integrated into the battle system.

*Defense reduces damage recieved from most physical attacks.

*Evasion increases the chance to dodge regular/status attacks.

*Luck increases the chance to succesfully use the "regular" struggle to escape a capture.

*Special defense protects against "special" damage types (for example the gas that Rose uses).

- If you defeat an enemy a short message will now pop up with how much XP you've gained (or not if/when you've reached the level cap).

- You can now submit to enemies during the fight.

- Each enemy now has their own battle focus: For example the rubber golem is a lumbering brute with high damage attacks and a good physical defense, but his weakness is that his attacks have a high chance to miss. That is until you're under his status effect, it's difficult to dodge something you can't see...

Additions:

- Ancient priestess boss battle: the skills 'hold your breath!' and 'clean yourself!' and items like 'disposable blade' and 'rubber dissolver' now do exactly what they're supposed to! (...nothing :p)

- Gear upgrades have been added into the game! Kathleen has 6 different upgrade slots available to her and you can buy upgrades for these from Fara in the traders tent.

- Two new skills that can only be used if you've got the right gear; serrated nubs (bleeding attack) and thermal discharge (fire attack).

- +/- 20 new images for the new enemy attacks and recoils from Kathleen when hit by these attacks.

Balancing:

- Every enemy in the game has been rebalanced due to the changes in the battle code.

- Fire bombs and poisoned daggers have been nerfed.

Bugfixes:

- Fixed the golem bad end progression: It now takes 3 fails in total to get the bad end and only two if you've managed to reset the "timer" by beating a rubber golem in a fight.

- The name box of Imran is now no longer in front of the options when choosing the right wine for lady Rose.

- Fixed some small bugs in the recall rooms.

i've already found a bug in the boss "fight" where you can't take the second status off after you have the armbinders put on

I do not know whether to scold or praise! the fights have become more interesting! Memtikhet can't be defeated!

Thank you for reporting! Turned out I forgot to add a failsafe in the new battle code that caused the problem. I've corrected the issue and updated all the links; the boss battle should now be beatable again. ;3

Thank you for reporting! 't was a failsafe I forgot to add in the new battle code that caused the problem. I've corrected the issue and updated all the links; the boss battle should now be beatable again. Glad to hear that the other fights have become more interesting! ^^

Since you've already shown that you can attach states during a battle that influence the heroine I'd love to propose another type of attack that either strips or attaches an item like bondage, collars or other curses... perhaps even progressively adding more and getting worse and worse slowly hindering the progress during the level making her weaker in fights if not properly taken care of~ I think that would make the normal fights a lot more perilous and enjoyable... especially if such predicaments extend to even after the fight leaving our heroine naked... or perhaps even bound and collared barely having scraped by and defeated the enemy~

Greetings. Alright so I could swear I had issues with the adrenaline injectors but when I reloaded they worked fine. Same with the Berserker stimulants. Anyone else have issues with them not working at times or was that just my imagination? Also I had framerate issues after talking to the rubber servant but they would go away if I pulled up my menu. I found this odd because I never had framerate issues; Even in the first version of the game. Anyone have similar experiences?

Those framerate issues are a known problem; most likely caused by the lighting events on the map. I've already made another preformance boosting script that will hopefully take some more strain off the engine, I will implement this script in the next version. Those issues with the injectors are weird, I'll take a look in the code to see if I can find the problem. In any case; thank you for reporting both those issues! ;3

Heya! That's a really solid idea and I would love to implement something like this... But the amount of extra artwork (and time) needed for each of those items (not to mention all the possible combinations) would quickly spiral out of control; at the cost of slowing down game production on all other fronts (bad ends, working jobs, plot progression and so on). So for now I won't be adding "complex" things like that in the game. That said; I'll keep the idea in mind; maybe in the future for a boss battle or the like. ;) In any case; thank you for the suggestion! ^^

Happy to help. Overall the new combat system is great. It flows a little more naturally and the extra damage make items more of a necessity if you plan on fighting. I look forward to all your future work on the game. Hyped about the comic too!
