Some people had issues with the default overclock settings from the last beta, so I figured I'd let users pick their own overclock settings via the SystemUI quick-toggles.

The system now clocks at stock-speed by default (1800+1416MHz), but allows users to overclock their unit in steps all the way up to 2184+1704MHz.

Please keep in mind that higher clocks require more cooling.

If you don't want to mess with setting the fan's speed manually, please toggle it into Auto mode, which will allow it to self-regulate based on CPU & GPU temperature.

On top of that, we now support Realtek USB WiFi & BT dongles!

A tutorial on how to permanently upgrade the RG552 with 5GHz WiFi & BT support has been published as well.

How to install: Unpack the attached files using 7zip and follow the included instructions found inside README.txt.

Things to note when updating from a previous build: If you previously had Google Apps installed, please make sure you re-install them after the update to avoid crashes!

For those needing the Google Play Store: Reboot into TWRP and install the latest OpenGapps ARM64 9.0 Pico bundle! (I suggest you finish the first-time setup with WiFi disabled... things move so much faster if you do!)

For those needing root: Magisk is included out of box and only needs to be activated on first boot. A WiFi connection is required for the initial Magisk activation.

Changelog

  • The big-cluster CPU top-clock has been slightly reduced (to improve stability)
  • The little-cluster CPU top-clock has been slightly reduced (to improve stability)
  • A new automatic CPU fan controller has been added (its now less of an jet engine)
  • The "Off" fan setting has been replaced by a new "Low" setting (in an effort to keep the idle CPU temperature around the 40~45°C mark during higher-clock speed bursts)
  • EXT4 MBR MicroSD cards now work properly
  • Realtek USB WiFi & BT dongle support has been added
  • A separate tutorial has been published on how to upgrade your RG552 with 5GHz WiFi & BT support permanently (Beta 9+ has to be installed for this to work)

Is their a option to turn bluetooth off and on in settings menu or through the notification bar when you swipe down?

blackseraph

Yes, it's disabled by default though as unmodified units don't have Bluetooth. You can make it re-appear by clicking on the pencil icon in your notification shade and pulling the Bluetooth toggle upwards. You will need to have a supported USB Bluetooth dongle plugged in or your unit modded (according to my tutorial) to actually use it though.

Michael Snipes

Yea i done ordered the bluetooth module for the internal mod

Michael Snipes

So once i do the mod, well ill do the mod after i upgrade to ur latest 9.0, then click the pencil icon and bluetooth will just appear

Michael Snipes

Awesome, it will also appear in the settings menu as well

Michael Snipes

How did you come up with the mod? And did you read my comment on the first memory card slot as another storage that i found

Michael Snipes

I now have extra storage and it boots fine :)

blackseraph

It's just what I do. I reverse engineer devices, figure out how they work, then mod and improve them. It's hard to explain.

Michael Snipes

All i did was take the MBR off the sd card and formatted it using disk partition as default with windows, then inserted it into the first sd card slot and reformatted it and now i can use it as storage for more stuff lol

Michael Snipes

See what i figured was it wasnt the console that had the control over how it booted the sd card first: there had to be a file on the sd card itself that it was reading which was the MBR which you can get rid of doing a cleaning of sd card using command prompt, i forgot the steps have to look it up again: once the card is completely clean and just like it was outta box, i formatted with a disk partition program as default, once done i stuck it in console and reformatted it using the console formatter built in, so now i have extra storage and yes it works flawlessly

why decrease the maximal cpu in overclock? i never encountered any problem with 2208/1800 i think it would be better if we can choose up to 2208/1800, so user who had problem can avoid it, and who doesn't, can still use it

Anonymous

You said the default speed is still faster than the stock speed ? That’s awesome dude ! I will try them all out and see what works best and gives me the best battery life. Thank you again for all your hard work man. Much appreciated

Which Bluetooth is supported? I tried 3 and non of them worked :/

blackseraph

More or less all Realtek Bluetooth combo chips. Anything that is supported by the rtk_btusb driver. rtl8821cu & rtl8811cu are two examples.
