FLife 2 progress report + Poll (Patreon)

Hi guys theres been a few things that have been progressing and also some setbacks that ill talk about.

Firstly, the first piece of clothing for Alyx is finished. It's some tight pants inspired by her appearance in the Beta.

Also as another minor thing the headcrab AI has been improved a bit and now it can run around with it's dick out like an idiot.

Ok now onto some worse news. I've recorded the mocap animations for the headcrab buttseks but as soon as I started retargeting it onto Alyx I've noticed something:

Her arms are really fucking short and the legs are long. (The white puppet is 1.8 meters in height)
So I've used the rule where the arm span should be the same length as the person's height and sure enough it didn't reach at all.

So yea thats a pretty awful sign.

Basically that mistake means every single animation I've put in the game so far has to be reimported with adjusted proportions (due to how the game engines work).

That also meant that I have to change the way I went about sculpting Alyx in the first place.
I've used Sculptris to make her whole body but now since i needed to adjust it around I had to reproject all detail onto her actual topology and clean it all up. So that took some effort.

Once I've done that I shortened her neck and legs, made her feet smaller, lengthened her arms, did some adjustments.

Now she is around 1.77 m (around the same height as HL2) and much more natural, realistic proportions.

I also increased her butt size because some people were saying the ass on Butt-crab is better lol.

Also, I've improved her face more. Now she should be more like her face in hl-2. Especially in the sideview.

Now I'm in the process of replacing old broken animations with the ones for the new model. Of course setbacks like this are very demotivating but it is absolutely necessary to fix this problem. Alyx will be used as a base for other characters, so If her model is bad the issue will spread to other characters too and it will look silly.

Now this brings us to the poll. I'd really like to model something while I'm working on this mundane task so that I don't go completely nuts. 

So, please pick one character or creature out of the following list. Some of them are enemies, some of them are friendlies so just pick what u think is more important or more cool.
