Hey everyone. Hope you're all enjoying the beginning of autumn! I'm playing my first live set since January of 2020 at Infrasound Festival this weekend in Minnesota. Just some things:

1. I've brought Michaela and some mics and cameras along to record the set. If all goes well, I'd like to exclusively release it, or part of it here. It'd be my first official live release ever!

2. I may make a video about my live set process, do you have any questions regarding that type of thing? If so, let it all out in the comments of this post.

3. Due to me being in a tiny motel in a cold cornfield this evening, my Thursday night stream will be postponed unless the cornfield has really high speed internet. 😅

Can't wait to see you there! And TWO set times??? Did I read that right? And yeah regarding playing live, I'd be curious with all the ambient / electronic sounds you use how you decide to draw the line between "okay this sound was good enough and I don't need to mess with it" and "well I can mess around with adding new effects and it will look more interesting to the crowd if I look busy pressing shit" when you aren't playing guitar or whatnot.

Would love to see something like a directors cut version of the set with your commentary over it about what is going through your mind during the performance and what worked and what didn’t and what adjustments you make etc…

I'm definitely going to want to see what all gear you're lugging along with you and how you'll be controlling it all. It'll also be interesting to see how your workflow is live vs in the studio. How much stuff is pre-sequenced/pre-rendered ahead of time? Loops, etc. Looking forward to the vid(s)!

Would love to know what your live process is like! I feel like it's something every electronic musician approaches differently. How do you manage the structure/arrangement of each song? Do you pre-program sequences/loops/etc? Are there any songs you either don't perform or rearrange so that they suit your live workflow?

I’d love to hear about the more mundane aspects of how this process goes that I never really see other artists talk about. Like what the booking process is like, how you get a set together, how you do the physical prep with your gear before your set, and what goes through your head before you play. Do you get a chance to enjoy the other musicians or is it kind of something where you’re stuck in your head going over a bunch of internal lists until you play? I hope everything went great!

Wow, my partner and I were just wondering earlier this week when you'd be performing live again...and we just so happen to be within a day's drive of Infrasound. How fortuitous. Looking forward to attending your sets tonight!
