Much like the Last of Us live action series, I love the choices so far to condense and clean up the source material from the campaign to the animated series. I'm sure this season is going to feel like a rocket with how fast paced it's going to be, but I am here for it.

Fun fact, the creepy dark lady Vax saw is showing up way earlier than she did in the campaign. I absolutely LOVE that they are already teasing her part in this, I am so excited to see you react to this whole story arc.

Some Easter Eggs: In addition to being a callback to the first season, The Lance of Dragon Slaying might also be a subtle nod to Percy’s Dragon Slayer Longsword, but he rarely uses it in the campaign since he mainly sticks to using his guns. The reason why the illusion doesn’t work is because ancient dragons have Truesight, which lets them see through invisibility and illusions. Brimscythe was barely an adult dragon so it worked on him, but it couldn’t fool Vorugal (the ancient white dragon).

Good point. I also took it as a nod at Dragonlance since Liam and Matt are both huge fans (and Matt has even said the Cataclysm in DL is an inspiration for the Calamity in the history of Exandra).

They captured the moment of the Campaign so well in this. The sheer horror of the moment after riding the high of a victory well won... A little story of Vox Machina. Liam O'Brien, who plays Vax'ildan, was having a birthday and mentioned he hadn't played a tabletop game in a long time. Matt Mercer ran a Pathfinder game for him and some friends that was meant to be a one shot... it lasted for 3 years. In those three years the story arc involving Brimscythe goes down, before they switched to 5e and started streaming it on Twitch.

So if you want, I would genuinely look up the actual moment of this in the campaign, Vox Machina Chroma Conclave attack or something similar should bring it up, the players genuinely had never faced something this strong and had great reactions to how outclassed they truly were time and time again

Also yes you guys grabbed the elemental breath weapons pretty on the nose, for the chromatic dragons there is Red = fire, Blue = Lightning, Green = Poison, Black = Acid, and White = Ice, all of which are on the evil spectrum of dragons. There are also metallic dragons that are on the good spectrum, I never watched the whole campaign so I genuinely don't know if there are any metallic dragons in this story, but save for poison they have the same breath attacks, two of which have fire. If this is too much let me know but in regards to how amazingly close this is to the source material it is amazing, I love this lol

Yes! Can't wait to see your reactions to the rest of the episodes :) Please please please don't let this series take a backseat. If Jojo's gets multiple weekly uploads, Vox Machina should get some extra love too. Once a week would be painful considering they release 3 per week.

As a series only watcher, I have a worried feeling that "tough little tyke" with the green eyes was the green dragon

It was a bit confusing but there is a Fire Boy, Ice Boy, Poison Girl and Acid boy. Poison Girl and Acid boy are both green colored and well they share a familiar element so they are easy to get confuzed, A good way i found is that Poison girl only does gas, and she has a wide mouth/jaw, while acid boy is liquid and he has a sharp snout that goes to a point. Also the dude who died in front of Scanlan was the old dude who he seduced at the ball with his "Pull on my beads of love song"

You two brought it up in the beginning slightly, but much like you did some funny moments of dubbed JoJo part 2 I think it would be fun to see your reaction to some funny moments in the actual Vox Machina Campaign. Atleast some of the early episodes upto the end of the Briarwood arc, there's plenty of great moments thst had to unfortunately be cut from the animated show in order for it to flow well narratively.

Unless they changed it recently, in 5e dragons don't get true sight according to the statblock for ancient dragons. Might have been true for older versions and you never know with crit role since Matt Mercer home brews so much of his stuff anyways. They however are incredibly intelligent and wise so can easily pierce through illusions if they take the time to observe them. If anything, he probably saved vs Scanlans DC for his illusion spell.

Acid Boy (Umbrasyl) is actually a black dragon, black dragons get Acid as their breath weapon, whereas poison girl (Raishan) is a green dragon, they have poison breath.
