Get Hyped For Growing My Grandpa! + game key form to fill out (if you haven't yet!) (Patreon)

Hey everyone! Hope you all are doing well, I’m super excited to deliver Growing My Grandpa! with you soon, my target is still sometime before Halloween and I def intend to reach it but I wanted to post some .gifs from my progress so far just to whet your appetite/let you know I was still working at it.

Growing My Grandpa! gives you a hint at what the game will contain, sure enough, but I have been doing some thinking about how I might present the story/action within the game. I’m pretty interested in the various ways video games can conceal/reveal information in their own way, i think how info is meted out accounts for a lot of satisfaction or dissatisfaction in something im playing. I hope you like how I handle the ambiguity/info flow in Growing My Grandpa! it involves a frame-story about a concerned guidance counselor.

Fun fact, I actually recorded myself dropping this folder filled with paper with my phone and rendered out the pngs into the game! Its my first full-motion-video content.

I’ve tried to make this game appropriately scary for Halloween. I don’t know what exactly typifies Halloween type horror (ghosts? slashers? pumpkins?) but Growing My Grandpa! has some more typical horror stuff like chases/spooky environments along with more Yamesean body horror and general weirdness.

I posted this a while back on my twitter so some of you may have seen this already, but one of the mechanics in the game is teaching your Grandpa how to speak.

The minigame/puzzle is loosely based off of the weird/sometimes incomprehensible persuasion system in The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. Depending on which words you teach your Grandpa, I tend to have different outcomes/endings. Not sure how many at the moment but we will see. Of course, you can’t just teach your Grandpa *any* words, you have to search around for cards that let you do this.
