Big thanks for remote desktop fix. I've been struggling with that for a long time.

Many thanks, do we need a new key for this new patch ?

Anonymous

Are new keys needed ? My Creator key is now invalid after the update. At least, VAM tells me so.

meshedvr

Same 1.20 keys for this release. Make sure you have them matched up. The download post linked above has links to the 1.20 keys.

What are the specific errors you are seeing?

Exception....Exception during version synch:System.Exception: failed to download E:\VAM_Updater\Addon Packages\Vince.Clothing_PleatedSkirtV2T.2.var after 5 retries. Aborting

Yeah, I got the right keys for sure. But despite VAM tells me it denies my key, my Creator functions work. So, all good (for now, at least).

Should .vars in your Addons be in folders or doesnt it matter? I noticed that the latest version is struggling along when loading stuff on this folder. I came to this discovery by looking at the threads using process explorer. I am not a developer but wanted to pass the info along and was curious if there was a best practices folder structure for the addons folder for performance.

Do I need to back up all my custom content / mods before updating?

Mirko James

Thanks for the update. I have 85GB of vars in Addonpackages and loading scenes is much faster now.

meshedvr

Did you happen to unpack (extract) this var to a folder? If so, the updater currently has an issue with this where it can't update the file because it is now a folder. To fix, go into your Addon Packages folder and rename Vince.Clothing_PleatedSkirtV2T.2.var folder to something else so the updater can proceed.

meshedvr

It does not matter if you organize into subfolders or not. It won't change the scan or load times.

meshedvr

No you should not have to do that. It is always advisable to keep a backup of content though.

Scene loading is slower for me on the latest update. Also, after updating to latest version, VAM keeps locking up my computer causing me to have to do a hard restart. Wasn't doing that before the update. I updated my video card drivers to see if that was the issue and still happening. Any suggestions?

meshedvr

Scene loading might be slower the 1st time you load a scene as it has to re-cache images. If your computer is locking or restarting your GPU or CPU may be being pushed too hard. If you are overclocking I suggest returning to lower settings and try again. I don't think there are any changes in this release compared to previous 1.20 or 1.19 releases that would cause this as those are not areas we made changes.

thanks for the info..
