The first BttF movie was actually made without a successor in mind. Therefore Jennifer was in the last scene, but discarded that fast in de second movie. Also a nice tidbit: BttF 2 and 3 were filmed back to back

Excellent reaction :) Your chatter about which person fits into which timeline is really funny.... maybe they left Jennifer in the wrong timeline so now a Jennifer is missing from the original timeline ;-) LOL ... but what actually happened when they arrived in the future on Oct. 21. 2015... Check this link out. It's the Jimmy Kimmel Live show from that exact date https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0VGRlEJewA

I love the Back to The Future film series, but man, this one has the biggest time travel plot holes of all the films! The events in this movie should not happen, and it's hard to just ignore! First- When Doc, Marty and Jennifer travel 30 years into the future at the beginning of the film, their "future selves" should NOT be there! They took themselves OUT of the timeline by traveling to the future, so when they arrive in 2015, to everyone else they would have been missing for the past 30 years. They established this in the first film. At the beginning of the first movie, when Doc's dog Einstein traveled 1 minute into the future, to Doc and Marty, Einstein disappeared and was missing for the full minute before he reappeared in the time machine. So... "old" Marty, "old" Jennifer and their kids should not exist when Marty, Doc, and Jennifer arrive in 2015. Ok, let's ignore that huge plot hole for a moment. The other big time travel logic hole involves "old" Biff from the future. So Old Biff steals the time machine and goes back to 1955 to give young Biff the sports almanac. After that, old Biff should NOT have been able to return the time machine back to the normal 2015 timeline. The future he would have time traveled to would have been the new "alternate" 2015 that was created when he gave young Biff the sports book. Doc even explained to Marty on the chalkboard why they couldn't go back to the "normal" 2015 to stop old Biff from stealing the time machine and almanac, because they would be traveling to a future of THAT timeline that was created once old Biff gave the sports almanac to his 1955 self. Sorry so long -winded!

I don't think you are right because the reason Einstein disappeared from the timeline for one minute is because it didn’t matter so Doc didn’t bother to send him back. When they travel to the future, older Marty and Jennifer are there because Doc was always going to take them back to 1985. Also, the film establishes that changes to the timeline do not instantaneously propagate forwards through time or Marty would have immediately ceased to exist when he pushed his father out of the street in the first film, creating a grandfather paradox. Changes to the timeline seem to act like a ripple moving out from the event. From the time that Griff destroys the courthouse to the newspaper changing is at least a few minutes. Obviously, it is a film making necessity to show the headline change when the characters are discussing the event, but in-universe Marty has been walking around, buying the sports almanac, and bumping into old-Biff. In the first movie, it takes a week before Marty is physically being erased from the timeline. It’s possible whatever ripples that occur from young Marty and Jennifer seeing their older selves just haven’t reached the future yet. Seemingly, old-Biff was able to return because he was ahead of whatever ripple, or wave in this case, was changing time because of young-Biff having the almanac. Presumably, whatever important changes that would occur would not begin to happen until Biff’s 21st birthday, hence the entire premise of the movie. That being the case, Biff left before the ripple turned into a wave and beat it to the future. By the time Doc, Marty, and Jennifer when back to 1985, the time ripple had already reached that point in the timeline so they could no longer go back to the correct future as Doc stated.
