i’d love to link some bts stuff from the show for you to watch i’ll do it tomorrow after you finish s3 because there’s something that i’d love for you to see that the creator posted but it’s a spoiler. idk if anyone else will tune in for a live stream but i’ll definitely be there. i may write 8458383 word essays in your comments but i have even more to say 😭😭 should ricky have slapped ej? absolutely not, but i cannot pretend that it wasn’t one of the funniest things that has happened on this show. and it’s funny because like you said he could easily snap ricky in half but he’s been hit by him twice but does nothing about it 😭😭 but you know what i absolutely love? in the scenario that carlos came up with ricky’s first thought was gina who he’s never even been in a relationship with. and it was nini who ej technically “stole” (not that you can be stolen from someone you’re not anyone’s property but you know what i mean) yet gina’s the first person he thinks of when he thinks about the woman he’s in love with. and maybe subconsciously he feels like ej took her from him because he missed his chance. and i loved ej calling out the fact ricky has always liked her too (and the show calling it out by having carlos say “unresolved feelings for gina”. like yes make it known bc so many ppl like to pretend he never liked her before this season). this thing with maddox and jet that carlos was trying to make up is so funny because when this goes live to the public do they realize people are going to find out they’re siblings like LMFAOO???? ricky is the only one that had the appropriate reaction to finding out 😭😭 i love how you mentioned the song fitting them so well because it really does. at this point in frozen during the duet anna is so set on hans and love being easy while kristoff is talking about love needing to take time and really needing to get to know the person and that’s exactly paralleling ricky, gina and ej. even direct parallels, like ricky as kristoff saying do you even know his last name and gina later saying that she didn’t even know what ej stood for before finding out this episode. and, like you said, the portwell duet was very fantasy based and cheesy and not reality. with ricky and gina it was just them rehearsing but the fireworks and the magic was there and it was in reality. also, another thing i loved about their duet is yes gina was doing it at first to make ej upset and jealous, but you can tell that she was starting to lose herself and their duet too and that it was becoming too real for her at the end. and i loved ashlyn saying ricky last year couldn’t even remember his lines. he’s changed so much in the best way. he even calls himself a theater kid to jet when he never even did that not even in season two. he’s finally accepted himself as one. like I said in my episode four comment, he’s trying his best for the musical not only for gina, but for himself too. the ricky from last year would never do that and he didn’t do that for that for nini either. like I said, yes, he did what he thought was best for nini which was stepping back but what he’s doing for gina by showing up is so much better than that. and it’s one of the things she said she wanted; someone to show up and stay around. and ricky is also doing the complete opposite of what he was doing with nini in season one like I said in my episode four comment. he apologizes to gina thinking that he was being too much in their duet because he doesn’t want to overstep and he doesn’t want carlos to tell gina about his feelings. he never would’ve done that with nini, and he DIDN’T do that with nini. he tried breaking them up and winning her back. like val said this is the love ricky truly needs. if you didn’t know, there’s a music queue that we call the rina queue that plays in the car scene in s1 between them and they brought it back for this season! it was in the scene where they’re talking outside. the only ship on this show with their own music queue. speaking of that scene i love it so much because as usual we get to see them communicating and her easily telling him what bothers her and him completely understanding. and it’s so interesting that in s1 it was so hard for him to express his feelings and now it’s hard for him to NOT express his feelings. what gina said to ej about them having two different summers is interesting to me because yes they are having two different summers but also she’s having her summer of firsts and he’s having a summer where he’s having a lot of responsibility being placed on him and it’s also his last summer at shallow lake and he’s been at camp lots of times. it’s just interesting because i feel like they’re going down two separate paths. right place which is the song jet sang was so good and adrian’s (who plays jet) is amazing. and the writers are continuing to do a great job at actually making me care about jet and maddox and their relationship and what happened between them. season two could literally never in regards to new characters. the thing is people in this fandom were hard on gina (not us rinas of course) for being petty towards val and ej but even if it was immature, this is her first relationship and she’s 16. ej should’ve been the one to take the reins with his relationship experience, but it seems like he just never learns from any relationship he’s in 😭😭 it’s also a big deal to gina. her mom and brother are never around and ej made her feel like he would be around only to possibly not be able to be there just like other people in her life and didn’t even bother telling her which probably made her feel stupid. and yes, he was going to tell her about the letter at the end of episode four but he continued to not tell her the next day. yes, he was busy but with her telling him that she doesn’t like liars there could’ve been a few minutes he could’ve taken aside to tell her 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ intrusive thoughts and anxiety is one of the hardest things i’ve ever had to struggle with and your explanation of it was so good. the aspect of one thing triggering you to go entirely into your head based off what someone says or does is so irritating to go through because they say it and move on and don’t even notice it put you into a spiral. and a lot of the time there’s no reason it should have put you into a spiral so it’s understandable that they don’t notice but it sucks so badly.

One thing I really love about this season is that the storylines are a lot more balanced out amongst the characters, and the comedic timing is excellent. Leaning into the meta-ness of the show with the reality show documentary is not only great commentary but makes for great comedic bits.
