GBTC is best for institutional investors bound by law to invest in equities, fund managers like Kathy Wood for instance who want their fund to have exposire to Bitcoin but are unable to purchase it directly due to regulatory constraints. Best to own real Bitcoin, no coumterparty risk, when you own Bitcoin you are the CEO of your own fund 😃 However, the discount will become zero if GBTC becomes a SPOT ETF and you would technically make an immediate 40% profit when the discount closes if you hold GBTC, that's the trade in a nutshell. Everyone is betting on the Spot ETF Approval and an instant 40% bump.

@James, how can we make profits when BTC or whatever is going down? That beats my head around and makes no sence. Off course unless we are selling something for less and less as it moves down, stil with profits albeit smaller all the time, and then maybe rebuy further down, but that is predicting the future. So 2x ... milking.. That has to be better explained. I am no expert. Thank you

He really does not explain it well. he is shorting BTC to make money when it goes down. Or any asset for that matter. If the question is how to short. That is a much longer question. There are many ways (products) that can get you short. There are short ETF”s, you can buy a PUT, you can Sell a CALL, or in some assets, the classic way is to borrow the asset from your Brokerage.
