Hello patrons!

I've been working hard on a new song this past week and I thought you'd enjoy hearing what's in the works. It's definitely not finished, I'd like to make it longer and add many instruments.

The placeholder name is "university of magic", it's meant to describe a place both mysterious and dangerous, but also full of interesting secrets and unique people. Harmonically, it's a really complexe piece that requires me to spend a lot of time actually studying the song itself (I'm self-taught for music theory as well), but it really gives it a special feeling.

The mixing and mastering aren't done as well, so expect surprising volume differences.

Feedback is always welcome :)

Would you enjoy to receive news from me like this one ? I used to think it's better to send the minimum of messages to avoid spamming you (I'm always afraid to annoy people), but at the same time, you are here because you appreciate the content! Your voice matters.

Best regards,

Michael

You asked for feedback, so here it is... The first part is good for a graduation procession. The second, calmer part, is great for wandering around the university. I think both would be better on their own. So if I was running a session where the players visited a university of magic, I'd play the first part once as I described the event going on as they approached. I would then play the second, longer part as a loop. For the first part, I don't particularly like the cymbal crashes, and think perhaps a muted trumpet blast would work better (similar too what you hear announcing a king's arrival, etc., but a bit more muted). You might also consider, instead of a trumpet, the horn instrument that you used a few times in the second part. Other than that, I think they both sound good for the "university of magic" theme, and work well on their own: Part 1 - Special University Events, and Part 2 - Wandering the Campus.

That's a very smart and useful comment. At the moment, I'm struggling on the 3rd part, trying to mix both 1st and 2nd parts. It doesn't work, which means they maybe shouldn't be mixed. I'll try to rework the piece and maybe make two songs out of it, it would make more sense. Thank you !
