Book 3 potential final artwork! One minor question (Patreon)

Book 3 cover artwork! Yay!

Only thing I'm unsure of is how much I like the "Sunburst" around the circle.
Technically, I did ask for it, but I didn't think my bad MS paint "straight spikes" would be taken so literally. 


Do I accept the artwork the way it is? Does it look good like that? Or do I just make it a circle?

I really don't know, so I'm asking all of you!

For what it's worth though, I actually think the stylized sunburst works really, really well with the art style and subject

See, this is why I make polls. I know my tastes aren't everyone's taste, and while I won't really bend the story to the whims of the majority, when literally everyone says "no this is great" - yeah I'll listen

In my opinion the sunbursts fit with the martial theme since they're reminiscent of swords. It has a good propaganda feel which is what the rangers seem to be going for with 'Sentinel Dawn' anyway. So it suits the context of the story. Of course, I still think chibi Elaine is the truest representation of Elaine and it wouldn't suit there. But here it does.

the sunburst is fine, i am a bit unsure of the area below her left armpit, the black oval looks a bit like an empty hole for an arm

I don't really see a sunburst in that. It looks too chaotic for me, and think of 'sunburst' as stylized and symmetric. I'm .. relatively indifferent. I like the idea of the sunburst, I don't like that implementation?

burst is nicer. Is that your thought for the sunburst for the sentinel pin? For her being Dawn?

To be honest, it's hard to tell without seeing the two versions side by side... I think the rays look kind of cool and keep it in the style of an ancient roman fresco, but maybe it would look cooler with empty space there (no rays) or shorter rays to be more symmetrical with the bottom half and in line with the 'dawn' meaning. Yeah I think shorter rays might be better cause that's more like dawn, but as it is it's not bad.

The sunburst looks good until one looks for details. So perhaps somehow improve it?

I think if the Sunburst is a bit too dominant, instead of getting rid of it, ask for it to be faded a little bit. With just a little editing it will become less dominant in the picture. I think the sunburst works and would work better if faded into the background a tiny bit. The rays, I mean

The Starburst is better than a simple circle I think thematically. Currently a bit overdone, too sharp and long, sword theme, and too elongated for my tastes.
