it's so sad how marlene king and the other writers of the show slowly started to abandon the amazing friendship that was toby/emily. i mean it's not completely gone but as you said... wasted potential. toby's friendships with the other girls are always so good imo. idk if it's because keegan (the actor) is really close with all of them irl but it always seems so genuine! so i relate so much to your rant about the lack of hanna/toby in this ep.

sometimes i get annoyed with the random episodes of friendships that are dropped later, but then it does help later on when you're like 'have toby and emily/hanna or caleb and aria or ezra and emily even talked, etc?' cause then you remember each girl (i think?) has had moments with the boyfriends to help remind you that they do all know each other and are friends somewhat. So later on, you don't feel too put off about them just randomly talking or helping each other. I do wish they built the friendships more, though.
