Hey all,

Indeed here's a second upload this week, exactly on time as promised for once.

I mean sure it took a drastic winding down in the release schedule due to my failing health to get there but I'll take it.

For today, we're looking at another assassin gal from Warhammer 40K, and what an assassin she is... and what a gal too, look at those honkers, why they're so tightly packed together in that skin-tight suit they'd probably look even bigger outside of it.

Luckily, her choice of profession means they won't get in the way too much, for this lady is, as the guns might clue in already, a sniper. So they make for quite convenient pillows to comfortably rest on while roosting on your spot waiting for the perfect time to take that fatal shot.

And seeing this lady is a Vindicare assassin, it will be a fatal shot.

Even if you're not familiar with 40K you've probably, at least in passing, have come across an image of a space marine, the power-armoured super-soldiers of the imperium of mankind, the God-Emperors angels of the battlefield. They're the poster boys of the setting after all.

They are also however, not the only kind of super "soldier" the imperium of mankind is able to bring to bare to a battlefield.

First there would be the Space Marines' predecessor, the Thunder Warriors, who are by the time of the 41st millennium all but gone, I can't imagine a single one having survived up to that point, even if they did manage to escape the massacre that saw most, if not all of them, slaughtered to a man. They weren't made to be immortal and we're talking thousands of years here.

Another form of super soldier would be the Adeptus Custodes, the emperor's golden boys, each one a mini-primarch in their own right and his personal body-guards, the strongest of their order was even able to punch up on a similar power-level of the ACTUAL Primarchs, and was one of the Emperor's closest confidants, second only to Malcador the Sigilite himself.

And speaking of Malcador, his mention brings us neatly to a third kind of super soldier the Imperium employs, for it was he that laid the groundwork for the assassin houses that produce these deadliest of individuals.

These Assassins aren't your garden variety death cult assassin, though they may be chosen from the ranks of death cult assassins, technically they can come from anywhere in the Imperium. There is only one requirement to apply, and it is a supreme mastery in the art of killing things efficiently, swiftly, and silently.

Due to their elite nature, the considerable resources required to produce one, and their highly situational usage, very few officials in the Imperium of mankind have the authority to send these out on missions. Inquisitors among them, in rare cases an inquisitor might even keep one or some of them as part of his personal retinue, but the death cult assassins are far more common. Less costly to keep away from potential targets.

The Organization is called the Adeptus assassinorum, and they produce the most elite murderers in perhaps the entire galaxy, as even the eternally superior Eldar would have to take pause at their expertise and skill. Only the best of the best of the best get to be picked to become an official Imperial assassin, and only the best of the best of these recruits will actually succeed in becoming one. Once the grueling combat training is finished, once undergone the most brutal of mental training and conditioning, and after a wide series of genetic and cybernetic combat enhancements will a complete Imperial assassin be ready for the battlefield... or maybe not.

Because of course, as assassins, they don't exactly operate on the front lines, they operate either far behind, or in front of those lines, and the times where they find themselves on those lines at the same time as an ongoing battle are considerably rare indeed. There are six distinct assassin temples, each specialized in a single form of assassination, and two of those always work so remotely they never see the front lines at all, let alone participate. As such the four more "common" assassins are left, as they can sometimes get caught up in the heat of battle due to their specialized role.

For an introduction, I've chosen what I consider to be the most "normal" assassin among them, the Vindicare, the Assassinorum's premium sniper. They are so elite at sniping, that they can hit a bullseye round a corner from behind a wall through a random passerby's earring from kilometers away, without using a scope.

Alright that might be a small exaggeration, but their expertise can still not be understated.

Once assigned a target, the Vindicare will first observe him or her from afar for months on end, learning everything there is to learn about this person, their habits, their routines, their schedules, likes and dislikes, people close to them, additional people that may need to be taken out (in a single shot of course), everything and anything that might be of import. Then using that information, the Vindicare will take up the best spot for a silent and smooth assassination shot, and a clean getaway. And then wait in that spot for another couple of months for the absolute perfect moment to pull the trigger on their Exitus riffle, entering a state of torpor to preserve energy meanwhile. At which point it's time to pack up and leave, for the target is now dead.

Vindicares don't miss.

Well, unless the Vindicare is male and the cute Eldar Farseer he was ordered to take out just took off her helmet and is crying and wounded. But that's a different story. (It's called Love Can Bloom, look it up it's a cute little bit of fan fiction that has sadly never been finished. but it's still cute and I don't care if you think it's cringe and doesn't fit 40K I still like it)

Whoof, got a little defensive there, but alright,

SoCarter out.
