Hey guys, here's a quick preview of some of the features coming to Captain Hardcore Quest v0.3!

Hand tracking required an engine upgrade to 4.25, and Android development has completely changed in the new version of Unreal which caused some issues but it was worth the effort!

I've also pre-ordered a Quest 2 so I can test compatibility and performance, I'm excited to see what the XR2 can do!

Some of the features I've been working on:

  • Hand tracking
  • Body fluids
  • Character scale slider
  • Ponytail with physics
  • Camera drag can now be used with both hands and works in smooth locomotion mode.
  • More features to come!

I've got a few more things to add and will get this update released as soon as possible!

Thank you everyone!

Music to my ears. You rock man. Seriously.

Saving & loading characters and scenes would be fantastic πŸ˜—

Does it run standalone or with Link. I was under the impression you had to get a code from Oculus/Facebook to run apps natively on the headset and you have to agree with their censorship to get it?

Hand tracking sounds awesome. What would it take to get working on Vive Cosmos? (I know this is out there: https://developer.vive.com/resources/vive-sense/sdk/vive-hand-tracking-sdk/)

This has become a great concern of mine as well I was hoping side quest would be able to not have any issues loading the app on there.

Looks cool! What do you use to simulate hair?

CaptainHardcore

It's standalone! You need approval to get into the official Quest store, but Sidequest looks like it will continue to support sideloading.

Omg I'm so pumped! I didn't think we would ever get hand tracking! You are truly a God, I can't wait for the update to release

RedFlames

And to get sidequest working or run apps from unknown sources each of us had to sign up to be a "dev", right? Wasn't there some weird thing I totally read and agreed to?

Glen Risk

Yeh but it comes down to how their "Platform" is defined. It's your headset and you are entitled to put any software you want on it. They are required to ensure what they sell is reasonably functional and to take reasonable precautions to prevent harm. Which makes their censorship questionable since it has been common knowledge since the 1960's that sexual repression is regarded as harmful by medical science. So if the political winds shift and they look like they are? Then they could find themselves being sued? But as for how the agreement binds you, so long as you aren't screwing around with their security protocols for nefarious purposes or attempting to undermine copyright they have no legal cause.

Glen Risk

For now? When it gets incorporated that will be different. The agreement affecting the proposed format states you can not make anything that is pornographic or designed for sexual fulfillment? It seems like they mean to interpret that in the widest, most repressive manner possible considering what they have allowed on their store to date? I fear they might even go so far as to block Steam usage with the headset? I don't care much about the privacy thing it's their social engineering the sick pseudo religious repressive crap that frightens me.

CaptainHardcore

Yeah there's about 6 or 7 joints there. It's a fairly basic shader as mobile doesn't support the full rendering capabilities of the engine.

hand tracking, or any kind of tracking for that matter: fisting?

Anonymous

amazing work hopefully it will still be compatible for those who still own an original quest headset due to an upgraded processor and 4k graphics

Anonymous

Well, it looks pretty good. I still can't get this kind of hair.

Anonymous

better hand slapping, choking, hair pulling would be sweet, nipple pinching, tickling, fingering (including down throat), so many possibilities with hand tracking 😈

Anonymous

Excited to test it on Quest 2 when it arrives! thanks :D

If possible plz add scene saves, thank you.

CaptainHardcore

It will always work on the original Quest, but I may add options for the Quest 2 to take advantage of the additional power.
