Hey there!

I hope you're doing well and that you had a nice week. Today, I wanted to show you some of the floor plans I made in Paralives.

Floor Plans Showcase

Placing walls in this game is very flexible. You are not limited to a grid so you can easily build walls of any lengths and at any angle. A curved wall tool is also in the game allowing you to create all kinds of shapes for your buildings. All that might seem complex to use but don't worry, we're making tools to help you easily place and align your walls. See this post for more info about that. I had a lot of fun creating these floor plans and I'm looking forward see what you'll build!

1. The Round House

2. The Fish House

3. The Triangle House

This week, I worked on improving the look of the junctions between walls. Before, each wall was just a stretched cube and it was causing an issue where walls did not connect well together. Now, I made it so the game can automatically generate good looking junctions. It might seem simple but there is a lot of math and thinking that went into this!

Have a great weekend!

Alex

Edit April 2021: This post is now public so feel free to share it. Please note that we made other improvements and tweaks to our build mode since this post

I'm so excited to make a big yurt

Perpecede Celequex

Having done some code I could only imagine how rough it was to figure out the junction stuff. It all looks amazing!

Anonymous

It's super interesting to see the process behind this!

Christophe Zajac

How many times do I have to propose to Alex for him to marry me? Je parle aussi Français !

Anonymous

wow😍

Anonymous

Oh, I've just noticed: isn't the round house the place where the "Resize, Stack and Flip Objects" video was filmed? Or is that my imagination?

Maiden Minnesota

I can't imagine the amount of work and brain power that has to go into making this game, but I can imagine how much I love and appreciate everything the team is doing to bring this to us! Worth every penny of support!

Daniel Asraf

Wow!!! You are doing great!! Please keep up your great work!!

These round walls give me already so much ideas as I spend A LOT of time in the build mode! Really looking forward to see more and the Canadian chalet video too :) take care xx

Anonymous

This makes me want to be a builder in game. I usually love just playing families, but now I want to build them beautiful homes ~~~~

Emma Pelletier

Congratulations for all the hard work you and more generally the Parateam are providing for the game !

Anonymous

Will the floor space in the curved part of the wall or when there are odd angles be usable?

Jason S

Once again, I am so impressed with the progress, I think the building tool will help so much to make a good house!! Can’t wait to see the chalet video 😁 good job Paralives Team! Take care always

Melissa Toothman

I love these. I can't wait to get my hands on these tools! I'm a huge builder, and this makes me so happy!

Kieran Wade

This is amazing. Thanks for the updates! Seeing this come to life one step at a time is simply the best.

Anonymous

Since the build mode is grideless, how it will work to put floor textures?

Macanon Snow

These tools are amazing and can really help to be more creative. I really can't wait to build my palaces * w *

Anonymous

So excited for the rounded walls! My favorite houses are mostly tudor style/cottages and its pretty much impossible to make them in the sims.

Anonymous

The Fish House is my favorite 😍

Anonymous

this is awesome! way to go team! can't wait to see what's coming!

Tini

Wow! I’m not a builder but this makes me want to build. 😍

Sarah

Oof, that four-way wall looks like it took a LOT of brainpower to get working properly. Impressive!

BreakingGaia

I love seeing all these different angles. What will the cutoff be for usable space in those odd angles? Can't wait to see a house that uses all of these features, including the platforms. You guys keep the excitement going. Every friday is something to look forward to. :)

Anonymous

The freedom of this game's building system is what made me choose to support its development. I can't wait to get my hands on it!

Genesis Llanos

I really love that we have curved walls. How will placing items on or near them work? For example if I want to place kitchen cabinets or pictures? Also roofing. How will it work. Omg I'm really excited about it all.

sour_reads

I’m curious about this too. That is how close can u place objects to curved walled and acute walls. At first seeing the curved walls I got excited about creating custom furniture like couches that follow the curve of walls but depending on object placement logic that might be glitchy

Anonymous

Would it be reasonable to request the feature of editing wall thickness? Alternatively Is there a limitation on how close walls can be placed to eachother? If one wanted to emulate thicker walls that way.

Anonymous

Omg this is AMAZING as an architect this excites me specially

Anonymous

I"m so impressed!

Kiiiwiii

This is amazing!

Anonymous

This is fucking brilliant! Wondering if we can also play with the wall thickness!

Anonymous

I'm so excited for this game!!! These floor plans have me SO stoked. Will having little rooms as closets be a possibility? Having those spaces be usable will make recreating real-life floor plans so much better.

tey711

I'm loving it!! ❤

Fran Smith

Wow! I want to move into your houses! I'm not a builder. My gameplay is kind of...start with a square room...need more space to make another square room...need a bedroom, so make another square room somewhere...end result a weird house with nondescript rooms in weird places. Obviously, I'm a game-play lover, so I just make the build thing as quick as possible so that I can start playing with characters (characters are the most important thing to me, so I'm waiting with baited breath for the relationship/emotion/personality systems)! But with this, I think I want to try to actually set out and design a 'real' game play house! I'm betting there was a lot of maths in these wall connections! I'm also wondering exactly how much MORE maths might be required for the roof structures for these... I hope you're maths is even more super amazing than this shows! :-)))

Anonymous

I am a builder, its like a dream! Can't wait to play with this. Looks like its going to be just perfect,

Anonymous

These corner-meetings are more smoote and good looking than what I see carpenters do..good work!!

Annie Wampyra

T H I S makes me very very VERY happy ♥

chameleonwren

wow, these look so cool ! the wall junctions are very smooth :D also.. i'm so giddy watching all these builds, but do you know if there are plans in the future to release an alpha of the build mode to patreons? ovo but sorry if this is a presumptuous question haha ;;

Anja Hoffmann

I'm usually not much of a builder, but that looks like some really amazing houses will be around sooner or later. Being able to make curved walls or walls at different angles to each other will also make it fun to recreate existing floorplans or suchlike (like really old or really weird houses). It looks very promising to me! I also love the transparency you have here.

Anonymous

I like curved walls as well, but they arnt very practical. You cant place much i such a curved corner. Maybe a small window, but if the window gets to wide...it will gab over and under it, because of the walls thickness. Hmm but it will still bring a nice tought to a house thow. And dont forget the roofs...I can imagine how some of them would look kind of terrible...haha.

Anonymous

This is really cool!!

Anonymous

This is fantastic. I'm really looking forward to build with round walls. :)

Emma Jacob

I keep having to remind myself that the game is still a long while away, because the stuff you've been putting out recently is so exciting!

Anonymous

This looks so good! Just please include some premade rooms or houses because I am not great at building lol.

Anonymous

Same. Seeing the potential of the game being so much better than another well-known game series is crazy. I'm so excited to see how it will look in the end. Loving every step of the process so far 😍❤️

Anonymous

Same. But the wait is worth it (so it at least seems from all those great development updates)

Anonymous

My hype level is sky rocking right now !! I on a new level of happiness!!! Holy smoke it's gonna be fun building :DD

Anonymous

Looks awesome! Keep up the great work guys :)

Anonymous

As a builder I am so so happy to see this 😍😍

Mari R.

I love the round house!!!Can I please live in it? :D Great job everyone!

S&M Gonzalez

I love the house plans! Seeing the curved walls has me so excited as a builder, will wall heights that are curved have a limit Im wondering and if it were to be so tall would it arch into being a part of the ceiling?

S&M Gonzalez

Another thought I had was would you ever consider the feature of being able to import an image of a floor plan to place on the plot of land to build from?

Anonymous

This looks awesome!!

Anonymous

Can't wait to try it myself - this looks great!

Luther Duncan

I really appreciate the attention to versatility when it comes to building this is showcasing some powerful building tools! I’m looking forward to building.

Anonymous

i literally never would have thought of the work that would need to go into this. thank you for sharing!!!

Bleeb90

This way of building looks marvelous. Being able to use corners that are anything but 90° would really give extra dimension to how realistic houses look, especially if you are fond of the hyper-modern stuff. But what I really hope for is that curved windows in curved walls will be a thing in this game. Being able to build proper Art Nouveau buildings would be a dream come true!

alexmasse

Each room has one floor texture and you can split rooms with an invisible line if you want multiple zones with different floor texture in the same room

alexmasse

Thank you! Unfortunately, the objects won't be able to twist by themselves to fit the curve of the wall About roofs, we're working on easy to use solutions and we'll share more about that later!

alexmasse

We're currently testing wall thickness so we can't confirm them yet. It has some technical challenges since we will need to adjust the thickness of doors and windows as well

alexmasse

Our goal is to be able to make small closets, yes! Not sure yet if they will all be usable but we'll test that

alexmasse

Thank you! The roof tools are a challenge to create but we have some ideas to make them easy to use!

alexmasse

Thank you! Releasing the build mode in advance is a possibility but we're not sure yet if we'll be able to do it or if we'll need to wait for the other modules of the game. We'll keep everyone updated about that!

alexmasse

Thank you! Unfortunately, curved windows and furniture that fit the curve of your wall are not planned for now since it would be a big technical challenge to bend these objects correctly

Trixia Lacsamana

I appreciate all of your hardwork!

Anonymous

i'm mostly a builder so this is all awesome! can't wait to see what shell challenges would come from not having limitations!

Anonymous

I love it... keep up the awesome job.

Jessica Flink

Looooove this! Can't wait to build with this kind of flexibility!

Anonymous

Muito bom esses detalhes :)

Charlotte

I LOVE curved walls!!! Suggestion - if not too complicated - possibility to change thickness/ width of wall

Kiddosdreams

I am so happy with these!

QueenWarrior4

I just can't believe the possibilities <3 Keep this up, I cannot wait to design amazing floor plans <3 agh I am so excited seeing this!!!! <3 I'm in love

Anonymous

This is awesome, look at the curved walls! 😍

Anonymous

Haha these updates are quite the tease...

Anonymous

aghhh so beautiful

Anonymous

Just wondering, will we be able to change wall thickness? it may seem trivial. but wall thickness are quite important in larger buildings to help emphasize just the mass of the structure itself. in my experience. large buildings in games like the sims 4 just end up looking kind of weird. because every wall is unnaturally thin. puts the building in some sort of construction based uncanny valley. older looking buildings also end up looking really weird and unnatural when they have modern wall dimensions as they're usually quite a bit thicker.

alexmasse

I totally agree with you! Wall thickness is something that we have tested and that we like so far but can't 100% confirm just yet
