This is probably not one of my best works, but not, in spite of what you might think, because of the choice of victim. To be specific, you guys somehow voted for Ian Lightfoot, from Pixar's Onward, and while I did think there were better choices for Halloween I can certainly understand the appeal here - he's pretty damn cute if you ask me. I did actually like that movie, incidentally, and while it does have its share of cliches I really appreciated the emphasis on the relationship between Ian and his brother. But no, the reason I don't really like this particular work is that I rushed it out of it feeling less like a pic I wanted to do and more like a pic I had to. Those aren't necessarily one and the same, but in any case I think that while Ian was rendered quite decently, the background is an absolute mess because felt burned out throughout most of the month for many personal reasons and felt like I just wanted it over with. It's a shame, because this being the Halloween month would've provided a good reason to go all out with the witchcraft-themed setpieces here, what with Ian practicing a weird new kind of magic and struggling to control it a la The Sorceror's Apprentice. The Fantasia rendition of that story is actually what his Halloween costume is paying homage to, though it'll be clearer in the final color version. In the meantime, I hope I can get the time between now and the end of the month to fix up more or less everything that turned out awful in this piece - Ian himself is pretty much the one thing that came out right, and even the magically animated stocks look like ass here. I do have to do some research on the movie's overall look again to fix the background, but I have an idea regarding how to do that and might give it a try should I decide to just give up on the sketched version here and draw everything again from scratch (the likelihood of which, knowing me, is a solid fifty-fifty =P).

That being said, though, in hindsight I guess it's a blessing in disguise that Ian got picked for this month. The title I have planned for this piece is arguably the shittiest pun of mine yet, so feel free to bang your head against your desk once you find out what it is. XD

The final version of this piece will be available, of course, on Halloween night: Sunday, October 31!
