Anna is very correct in saying that Fukuyama is key to understanding the West’s response to crisis in Ukraine. I would recommend to all listeners to check out some lectures by John Mearsheimer on youtubes or the recent q&a with him in the New Yorker. The post Cold War (neo) liberal world order has ended, but the West is understandably having a hard time letting go. As we waste time in the now strategically irrelevant venue of Eastern Europe, the Chinese continue to enrich themselves off the system the liberal world order inducted them into. If these establishment dems and repubs don’t soon have a major rethink of their political ideology and consequent geopolitical policy, the US is going to be in Very Bad Shape even sooner than we think.

The sheer quantity of pseudo-psycological-analysis on Putin is irresistable - why? The truth is nobody knows what he really thinks. But let me add my take, Putin is a nationalist now even if he was an internationalist before. He was picked by the CIA when Yeltsin died because at the time he was sympathetic to the capitalist message, he is not now.

They'd better not try to fucking cancel Red Scare! I mean it. That's non negotiable.

I used to go the Cinefamily back in the day, and the thing about Hadrian Belove is that he always acted like the "fun uncle" when he ran the place. Many times I went there, the staff would hand out free cans of beer to the audience. No ID checks, no booze license, just here you go. It was a fun, fast and free place. I wonder though if that "fun uncle" way of life is what keeps causing him problems. Maybe Hadrian needs to find some strict sober daddy to partner with who will keep an eye on things and shut down the party just before things get out of control.

asking in good faith: is nuclear portrayed as more dangerous than it really is? especially the radiation narrative??

We will break you out of the internment camps first, also I was today years old when I found out Anna had insta

Anonymous

Indeed why the talk about what’s in Putin’s head. The attack is consistent with the Russian F imperialist expansion policy, as has already been implemented elsewhere. In Ukraine too. Just that now the scale is far more horrific and unfathomable

Anonymous

You can still visit Russia/Belarus if you’re a Russian or Belarusian citizen living abroad, there just aren’t direct flights from America or the EU so you’d have to change planes in Istanbul or Belgrade or something

I want a Red Scare secret decoder ring so we can find out what Dasha’s cancel-worthy censored hot takes are.

Dasha you really touched me with your pure sentiments and emotion. I can’t imagine being anything other than kind and compassionate to you Ladies and all Eastern Europeans who want peace and have respect for sovereign countries. Thanks for your great pod and prayers for peace.

I want to know what they’re talking about but I would commit seppuku before I google buzzfeed

It's all going to get waaaaay worse. Besides higher energy prices, Russia and Ukraine export 30% of global wheat. Food prices going up means political instability across the Middle East, Africa, etc. (remember how the Arab Spring started???) We're going to have mass starvation in poorer countries, which will lead to mass migration towards Europe and all the political drama that will cause. If we're lucky, we'll get another good Houellebeque novel but that's about it. And this doesn't even factor in global fertilizer shortages, which Russia is also a leader in. And we still aren't sure if sanctioning the Russian economy is a smart move due to counterparty risk in the financial system. Lehman might look cute compared to what could happen. We'll likely have a global depression in 2022. If you don't already, check out Doomberg. Fucking scary stuff, but at least they're sober and intellectually honest. Would be a much better guest than Simon: https://doomberg.substack.com/p/on-the-cusp-of-an-economic-singularity?s=r

I am so sorry, Dasha and Anna.

It depends on what model of reactor facility it is. The ones in Ukraine are older and can easily become dangerous if hit with artillery shells, or if they can't keep a rotation of trained operators at the controls.

Lukasz

The background noise is horrific

Yes get Dagmara on please. Very interesting looking lady

Starry Pr1nce

Speaking of the two oldest professions, it's fkn wild that you two haven't reached out to weed slut 420 for any juice about hunter Biden and the ukraine. That's a better love line than the retarded astrology girl listeners.

PS I said to my husband that all of Ukrainians I’ve seen on tv are physically beautiful and gorgeous! They could all come here and become models. Way more attractive than the average U.S. fatty.

Dasha - please know you are saved by grace through faith. Read Ephesians 2:8-9.

Please Anna, could you please stop saying that as an American I don’t believe in anything? Speak for yourself. Just because your sphere of influence is neurotic, New York, soulless, emotional vampires, doesn’t mean that most Americans in this country, don’t believe in the historical greatness of the ideology of its founding. It is such a dishonest and disrespectful statement to say that the power of American culture is fucking blue jeans. Such a stupid statement. Please explain to me the superior belief system of the Russians, and then explain to me how those beliefs have benefited the Russian people to a greater extent then the US.

Steve Ray

And it's based on mystic rituals to induce demonic possession.

The entire American history is a giant lie. Read a book you philistine.

Russophobia is indeed rising, but Ukrainophilia is rising too! So Slavophobia and Slavophilia even each other out!

Justin T. Palmer

Thanks for another episode ladies. What was the book Anna recommended alongside Zero to One?

Anonymous

Anna and Dasha have very heterodox opinions that make them hard to place on the political spectrum, which is probably why so many libs hate them. After listening to them for a while, they strike me as Eisenhower Republicans—pro-taxes and welfare, non-interventionist (the Eisenhower administration wasn’t non-interventionist, but he is the one who coined the term “military-industrial complex”), but with a traditionalist bent. #MakeEisenhowerGreatAgain

Hey Dasha, I saw that you follow Paz de la Huerta on her private ig. Can you share her posts w us 🧐 who were the evil women ?!

The ballistic missiles hitting the cities in Ukraine all come from the original designs (R-1 to R-7) by Sergey Korolev - the Soviet Ukrainian rocket engineer born in Zhytomir, same guy who put Gagarin to space,,,

Anonymous

keyword “designs”, yes? if one were to do a bit of research into where weapons (umbrella term, includes bomber planes, bombs, guns, radars etc) are manufactured and produced and sold from: 7 out of 10 by and from USA, 3 out of 10 the rest of the world, out of which Israel is ahead of Russia and China.

love the cop reveal (because duh)

The ladies more braindead than usual on this one. Not finished yet but two dim statements right up top: 1. They said Abramovich doesn’t seem like he’s friends with Putin — in reality he was the first person to recommend to Yeltsin that Putin be his successor as President, and Abramovich remains one of Putin’s closest confidants 2. They didn’t understand the difference between the Venice Biennale and the Venice film festival Both mixed in with a bunch of self-pity about not being able to travel home. Still, great episode! Glad to have them and Dasha congratulations on your award 💕

Anonymous

Maybe it's finally time to rename the podcast from RED SCARE to RED DAWN?

Anonymous

It’s definitely Rat Fucker Sam

Girls did 0 research, just whinging along with mainstream media, even had some propagandist on last episode. I can't believe Anna said Azov batallion was just invented by Putin to troll Zelensky. Thats just stupid and unformed. Unsuscribed, see you in hell.

Anonymous

I loved this episode. I disagree with all that former comment speaks on - I enjoy your theories and I see right thru Zel. I am also Russian (born in America but Russian lineage) and I appreciate all sides. I think you do a very good job - you are intelligent women with a great sense of humor. Because in the end, all we truly have is laughter ! Keep up good work :)

Anonymous

The show made reminded me of this: Putin on OnlyFans, very weird but I love Kyle Dunnigan's work youtu.be/n7Y5-L8qL98 When Putin hits goal, he will show мудак You likely have seen President Zelensky playing piano with his dick, for 5 minutes: youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=2-UiadUOrfk Shows real commitment to the bit. It also seems a bit hacky once I heard about a little known performance by Winston Churchill on the xylophone. Still, the FSB (and Western intelligence) should've known Zelensky doesn't quit.

From a friend of mine with a Russian wife: The Donbas is mostly Russian speakers speakers but a mixture of people who identify as Russian and Ukrainian. While a group of ethnic Russians declared independence and claimed a referendum that ostensibly showed that 85% of Donbassians wanted independence, it is generally taken as suspect. On the other hand, Crimea was a part of Russia until 1954 when Khrushchev attached it to Ukraine. Once Ukraine withdrew from the USSR, Crimea immediately seceded and petitioned to become part of Russia. Ukraine negotiated a status of 'Independent Republic within Ukraine'. However, within a few years, that was rescinded and was made it directly ruled by the Federal government. In objection, Sevastopol, about two thirds of Crimea's population, passed a referendum stating that it was a Russian city and obeyed Russian, not Ukrainian laws. This tension continued until 2014 when with U.S. clandestine support a Western Ukraine party that is overtly anti-Russian, illegally took control of Ukraine. This was a bridge too far and Crimea seceded again. In response, Kiev convicted all leaders of the new Crimean Republic of Treason and started moving tanks and missile launchers toward Crimea. Russia's biggest naval base was in Sevastopol, leased from Ukraine and kind of similar to Gitmo with the U.S. and Cuba. The Russian soldiers in that naval base came out to the Crimea-Ukraine border to assist in repelling Ukraine's impending assault on Crimea. The Crimea's leadership then asked officially for military support from Russia with the objective of protecting Crimea. That was done. While most Crimeans wanted to be independent nation, it was clear that a more or less permanent military tension would remain iindefinitely. So, choosing the lesser of evils, it petitioned for and received status as an Autonomous Republic within the Russian Federation. Subsequently, Pew found that 83% of Crimeans were satisfied with the result. However, Ukraine specifically stated that they still considered Crimea part of Ukraine with the intent to reintegrate it. The demand is that Ukraine drop that intention.
