We're not sure how aware you guys are, but there's been a change in the way Patreon assigns its fees between creators and patrons. The way they worded it was all grandiose and swell sounding to us, the creators, but after a thorough read we can't help but consider: How the heck is this supposed to help us (the little guys without a billion patrons) make money?

The last thing we want to do is fearmonger, and we certainly don't want to drive anyone away. (Hence why we're contacting you guys and discussing it, and possible solutions, with yah~!) But essentially for those who are unaware their idea is to push the majority of the transaction fees onto the side of the patron. Sounds great, saves us money right? Well yeah, it does, in theory. If people stick around. But the way the fees are paid is a set percentage of the pledge (2.9%) plus a minimum of $0.35 so all these people kind enough to give us a dollar (of which we'd only get a certain percentage anyway but the point is it only costs you $1 a month right? You can happily lose that and it still adds up on our page despite us not actually receiving that whole dollar).

But now for all y'all who decided to go ahead and give us a dollar, it's gonna cost you minimum $1.35. I can see how that would dissuade some of you, hell, you better believe it'd dissuade us if we were in your positions. So we're throwing this out there because we want to hear from you, what you think, whether you're gonna stick around and ride it out or you're gonna (understandably) have to withdraw. There's not a whole lot of wriggle room to work around it, but we have considered taking measures such as dropping the price of the $5 pledges to $4.65 so we foot the bill again or possibly trying to open up more content to make it worth the while of those at the $1 level. As much as we don't want to take a hit in the wallet, we know that if you guys aren't happy that'll happen anyway. So we'd like to work with yah and try and find a sweet spot.

By all means if everyone is happy as is, then we can all carry on. But we're here to be honest, open, and encourage you guys to have your say because your opinions really do matter to us and your ideas might be something that otherwise hadn't occurred to us.

Feedback is much loved, drop us a comment below~! <3
