I went into this last week without an actual plan to do something, it just came about after I drew the first girl in power armor. I think I had started drawing a fairly traditional mech but then it just needed something to give it some interest. And then I'm like... well what if this was a suit of armor?

I then stuck with the idea of mixing cute girls with boxy mecha. I wanted to make the robot parts look heavy with a touch of "realism" to them so they weren't going to be form fitting sleek exoskeletons. But I didn't let the realism get in the way of making sure you could see the pilot.

The biggest example of that was the "Cortex Walker" which was inspired by the classic videogame System Shock and their terrifying monster the Cortex Reaver. This design turned out pretty popular on the thread thanks to the lore and the drawing's mix of heavy mecha and a sleek lady in the middle of it.

Anyway this was a fun week, but it was also a litttttttle overboard. I need to make my next week of characters a little simpler.

The Cortex Walker is one extremely striking design (plus a great composition on top of it)

Someone has been watching Men in Black. ^_^
