Update Post (switched to new billing cycle + other stuff) (Patreon)

Hey everyone. Just thought I'd make an update post. It's been a while since I've done one of these. Usually I'll just put whatever updates I have for you in one of the regular post but I think this one should have it's own dedicated post.

If you didnt know Patreon used to (and kind of still does) have a different monthly billing model than most subscriptions services do. Basically, Patreon's old way of doing it was if you subscribed to someone on say the 20th for example, you would be charged once initally on the 20th, and then again on the 1st of the next month if you decided to stay subbed. This way is kind of stupid because it basically punishes someone for subscribing further into the month. Patreon eventually realized this was stupid and they added the option for existing creators to switch to the standard monthly billing cycle that other services use. They also removed the option to have the old stupid cycle on new creator accounts.

I had actually made my account a little bit before this change was made. So my page was still on the old cycle. Once I first heard about the new option I tried to switch it over but I wasn't able to. I dont remember exactly why, I probably got an error or something, this was around the same time where I had a payout glitch and lost a bunch of money. (If you remember me that you've been here for quite a while, thanks!) Anyways I kind of forgot about it after that since the setting for it is fairly out of the way.

Fast forward to 20 minutes ago when I'm actually going through my settings to do tax stuff and I remember that I never actually switched it. So I kinda feel like a dumbass for that one. I just switched it over literally right before writing this. Hopefully it doesn't break anything. Although who really knows with Patreon at this point, they haven't exactly been taking great steps towards improvement over the last year. I mean just take a look at their logo history, that's the kind of thing that screams identity crisis. Because of that I've been looking into branching out onto other platforms in case Patreon ends up killing itself. I do have a Subscribestar where I post all the same drawings. However, I dont really recommend switching to Substar because you dont get access to polls on there since I dont know how to manage tallying the votes for the same character poll running simultaneously on 2 different sites. Just to clarify, Im not planning on leaving Patreon, Im just exploring other options in case it does fail.

By the way I'll be doing another poll soon. It's been a while since we did one, sorry about that. I'll send the message out for that soon. And on the topic of the next drawing, I decided it's gonna be another continuation of the Starfire, Blackfire and Raven thing. Unfortunately I dont have much progress done on it. I've spent most of the last few days trying to figure out what scene I even want to draw. It's much more difficult for me to come up with ideas for those 3 than it used to be. Probably cause I've been drawing them for like 3 years now. But I know you guys enjoy that series, so I'll try my best to make something you like.
