I'm so sad Anderson didn't make it. I mean he's Canadian so I kinda worried from the start but his rank is always high so I did have some hope 😭 Riize just debuted so I don't think we would get a new boy group in the next 3-4 years. He's 18 now, idk if he would wait that long or just go back to Canada for uni

Tbh, my lineup would be Riku Jungmin Anderson and Minjae. But either ways I would stan them eventually because I'm an NCT stan lol, if they're NCT then I'm in. But I think I need some time to heal lol 😭 Boys Planet, RU Next and now NCT Lastart, they wrecked me 😔 I have 2pick and just 1 of them make it. Pain 🥲

Omg! I´m so sad for Anderson😢 he had so much potential to be nct but I´m pretty sure he didn´t make it because of the language barrier he has. All the other trainees either speak korean or japanese fluidly but him, and that is a hugee disadvantage since this a Japanese unit. Probably the sm heads saw that it would be difficult for him to learn 2 new languages in such a short spam of time.

I like the lineup though Ryo and Sakuya are talented, I also feel like they had to add more Japanese members because there were too many Koreans. I'm happy that Daeyoung debuted because even though he came in the middle of the show he showed he was qualified. I liked Anderson but I didn't think he was fully ready to debut but with more training, he would be good. I hope SM keeps him and Minjae for another future boy group. I feel bad for heitetsu because he didn't really grow on the show, I hope he doesn't get discouraged and this pushes him to work harder.

Daeyoung was a surprise for me too but when I saw their performance at NCT Nation in Japan, his dancing improved a lot. I am not an expert but compared to his performance during Lastart, he is much better now :) Also, their debut will be in December so we might have to wait for a few months before we can see them with the rest of the NCT members.

I'm happy with the members, but it's still awkward that they are NCT. NCT's age gap is too big now...lol I'm going to their pre-debut shows and looking for it😁 Jungmin's gonna be my fav for now🥰

I think the lineup makes sense and Im happy with it, especially eith Jungmin haha. I think I finally saw Yushis charm in Boss becaus like you I didnt really get it before. It really depends on their debut and the chemistry between them and also nct, then Ill see if I stan or not.

The fact that they had to have an emergency meeting about him being added, just means he made that big of an impanct to them... to be honest Ryo have that charm japanese market would love 😊 he's meant to be a keychain lol

1. Honestly, I'm almost sure the “emergency meeting” was an act. It was pretty obvious to me from the first episode that SM wasn't debuting a group of 6, it was a way to add more drama to the situation. Typical SM. 2. I wasn't expecting Sakuya to debut, but from the moment it was announced I was crying for Anderson. We already had Riku for sure and Sakuya as rappers, and Sion and Daeyoung as sub-rappers. But it's okay, I think they are saving Anderson for some global project in the future (since NCT Hollywood failed) 3. Does anyone else find it strange to see Daeyoung next to Ryo and Sakuya? They are like babies and I feel like Daeyoung looks older than he is. It's like watching Johnny in Dream. I hope they grow fast hahah 4. I don't worry about Ryo and Sakuya's lack of versatility. NCT Dream didn't start with a strong concept for the same reason. In fact, I would be more worried if SM gave them a sexy concept or not suitable for their age, they are literally children!! 5. I feel like Ryo is a mini version of Renjun, so my Renhyuck shipper side is happy to see Haechan dying of cuteness overload while Ryo was talking lol

I'm surprised by the final lineup, I didn't expect Daeyuong to debut, meantime I'm glad I was wrong. He is a great vocalist and rapper!! and I'm interested to see his growth as an artist. Sakuya and Ryo were really cute here, but I've watched some fancams from yesterday's concert NCT NATION in Osaka and I was really surprised, especially by Ryo. Unfortunately Jungmin couldn't participate on their first stage, I'm looking forward to see him performs soon. NCT Tokyo is going to has a predebut tour in 10 cities and 28 showcases in Japan this fall and I can't wait to see them polished and more confident in December when they're making their debut.

I think I'm okay with the line up eventho there are someone I hope will got into debut line but in the end he still didn't manage it. I just hope one day they will debut in the other group even it is not NCT because I believe, because of this program, they already have price on their head and body and talent, I believe there are so many label out there are ready to grab them if they leave SM. they already create their own fans around the world that are hoping them to debut as soon as possible

This is my first time watching a group survival show and God... I was literally pulling my hair during the announcement😭 I also didn't know you get so stressed out and tensed like that. It was so funny lol Anyway, I think I've grown attached to them so I will check out their content for sure. At the end of the day, they're still under the NCT brand and I don't want to get my NCTzen card revoked 💀 But as far as stanning them completely, I don't know yet. Like you, Riize has definitely caught my attention and I've lowkey devoted myself to them already. I still think SM should've waited before introducing this group because the difference in quality and readiness between the two groups is just so noticeable.

I'm actually okay with the line-up especially because my top pick in this show is included which is - Riku (he deserved that 1st place so much! 👏💚) my other picks like Jungmin and Ryo also made it so I'm happy! I'm just sad for Anderson tho. I would love to see him in NCT too 🥺 I'm also surprised with the rankings tbh. Daeyoung is so unexpected but also it makes sense that he made it. With RYO, I love him truly and I feel like a proud mom whenever I see him but honestly I was kind of losing hope already that he's gonna debut but his 90s love perf really did something for him! The fact that all the directors made an emergency meeting for him to be added in this unit, that was huge deal! They really saw something in him, and I agree because I also feel like RYO has the charm to attract fans and especially in the japanese market same with Sakuya. Additionally, since this is a japanese unit it's really essential to have Japanese members in it and among the japanese trainees I feel like Ryo and Sakuya are the most okay to debut altho yes I also understand the concern because they're still minors but I also trust SM's music direction with their groupd and I don't think they will give them songs that are inappropriate with the members same with what they did with NCT Dream before. It's really a huge pressure to all of them I hope they overcome that. I saw their pre-concert performance in NCT Nation and it was good! Love the song! The chorus is catchy, easy listening song, not too sexy or matured but not too childish as well. I believe this is the type of song that japanese market would love! (I saw some posts that indeed japanese nctzens are loving their song and performance 🥰). Also, just want to add and say that NCT NATION IN JAPAN IS MUCH MORE BETTER THAN IN SEOUL. It was amazing!!! 🔥🔥 SION is the confirmed leader btw. He introduced himself as their leader. I feel like the center position will be interchangeable between YUSHI and RIKU based from their performance. Sion could be one too but he's already the leader. Side note: Yushi, Riku, and Sion feels like the holy trinity of this unit just like we have Taeyong, Mark, and Jaehyun. HAHA looking forward to see more of them and as well the other members 💚💚

Btw, I watched their pre-release short contents, their group chemistry is nice! They're already chaotic LOL very youthful vibes. Their stage performance was good, they definitely improved a LOT! It's just unfortunate that JUNGMIN was not present during their pre-concert stage in NCT NATION. We saw him still at NCT NATION IN SEOUL with the other members they watched the concert so he's just probably sick . I hope he get well soon! 🙏

Daeyoung debuting make sense, I don't know why people don't see it coming? They definitely need another main vocalist especially when they said earlier on that they can't depend on one main vocalist to carry all the high notes or the difficult part in the song, and just like any other sm group they usually have 2 or 3 main vocalists so it makes perfect sense that they will have 2 main vocalists, Jungmin is fix to debut at this point, so it's either Daeyoung and Minjae, and they go with Daeyoung, which is perfectly fine. Sion and Yushi are going to be the lead vocalists, Riku and Sakuya will become the main and lead rapper, while Ryo and Sakuya are added I think for the appeal of Japanese crowd and for the team dynamic and they can carry their position as rapper and vocalist pretty well too.

I became a fan of NCT primarily through their music, and fell in love with the members coincidentally, and I don't have a lot of doubt that the same will happen with this unit. While it wasn't the line-up I had fully expected, it's one that I can grow to love and appreciate, I think, especially given this show was filmed months in advance, giving them all enough time (hopefully) to have vastly improved from then to their recent NCT Nation performance! Every unit has their very distinct sounds. 127 is undoubtedly the most experimental and R&B-based, Dream always comes out with something more youthful, refreshing, and coming-of-age, and WayV's discography is perhaps the most cinematic and dramatic; however, every unit has that inherent NEO factor that I first fell in love with. As long as this unit follows that overarching neo sound that NCT has developed for itself while creating their own musical niche as a unit, then I can fully get behind them! 💚 I was a huge fan of Riku since the start of the show (he BLEEDS neo like he was MEANT to be here, let's be real), and grew to love Daeyoung immediately upon introduction, so it wasn't an incredible shock to see him make the final line-up since Jungmin alone could not possibly sustain being a single main vocal carrying every single high note. Also, Daeyoung was shown to be more versatile in his skillset than the other trainees who focused mostly in one area, so he's an excellent addition, I feel! Sakuya and Ryo, while shocking at first, also made a lot of sense knowing this would be the Japanese unit, and I agree, they definitely come as a pair in terms of balancing each other out. I definitely hope they stick to age-appropriate concepts in the beginning (akin to Yujin right now with ZB1), not unlike Dream when they did GO, We Go Up, and even Hello Future. Another unit with a brighter sound would also help balance NCT's discography as a whole! Overall, excited to stan! 💚

this is your first survival show?? oh my... this was like a walk in the park compared to the other ones like boys planet 😅 but it's good to start slow! and yea I agree they shouldn't have done this show with riize's debut. I think October would've been fine but I think they wanted to introduce them at the nct nation Japan. anyone know if they'll be at smtown in Jakarta?

It's quite a shocked for me for the line-up. I didn't expect sakuya to rank that high. My initial line-up was riku, jungmin, daeyong and anderson. Then for marketing expect, the line-up totally make sense as they were targeting the Japan market. I watched clips of their pre-debut stage from the NCT Nation in Osaka and it quite suprising the songs suits them. The overall concept does complement with the Japanese fans vibe. It's quite a bummer for anderson not in the line-up but I do get the reasons for that. As an Nctzen from the rookies, I have company NCT from the beginning till now, I think I will l follow with this group activities and excites with what kind of varieties they would show. Thank you Jeff for your reaction throughout the shows. It very nice to hear various kind of opinion from you.

I would stan for Sion and Riku alone because good grief they are mesmerizing to watch on stage. Plus the stage chemistry and friendship between Sion, Riku, and Yushi is already making my heart burst. But I also am really pleased with the entire group line up. I felt that it was a given that Daeyoung was going to debut as soon as they brought him on the show. I assumed that was their intention- they knew they needed him and bam there he was. He didn’t have time to adjust to the show but he seems incredibly talented and very polite and kind. I can’t wait to watch their debut and follow their variety shows and see them grow as a group.

Thank you for reacting. I like this line up. I don't totally love it but that's more of a bias thing since I have become attached to Minjae & love his mom personality with the trainees. I feel like I manifested Sakkuya & Ryo's debut lol. Thinking of the Dreamies doing more mature concepts I felt like NCT was leaving the youthfulness behind soon which I think is a big part of NCT since debut. I always thought we would have bright & young forever especially with Dream having underage new members then that was replaced with a permanent line up & now that Dreamies are grown now. I don't want to force them to stay young but it's something I look forward to as a part of NCT so the new unit will have that now at least for a few more years. I know alot of people were wanting a mature concept from the new unit but I feel like having WayV, 127, & now Dream too do that so it isn't necessary at least not for me. Especially considering their focused for Japanese market when I think of Japan I think of Kawaii which is cute so Sakkuya & Ryo will really charm Japanese fans. Based of NCT Nation Japan concert I've already seen a lot of mentions & interest for Riku, Sion, & Yushi with a lot of love for Sakkuya & Ryo. I've also heard of their chemistry & how they bring the team together over all. I think they might be doing teenage, bright, & positive concepts like Touch, We Go Up, BOOM, & Hello Future something that's not too young but not too grown either because of the mix of members. Just like with Riize before debut I already have biases because I learned about the members talent & personalities. My bias line is Sion, Riku, & Sakkuya but sometimes I get wrecked by Ryo, Daeyoung, & Yushi. It's crazy when I think of WayV it took me a whole year to get fully invested into them. I did watch their MV's & listend to the their music since debut but I didn't start fully stanning like watching behind the scenes, variety content, or even picking biases until like 2020. So in terms of me stanning the new unit it's already too late I'm fully invested & attached even if I don't like their music which I don't think will even be the case considering their SM & SM has a smiliar formula for all their groups. I blame SM for showing me them before they even debut. I can't wait to watch next episode & fall even more.

I forgot to mention all the memebers positions aren't officially confirmed yet so we can only speculate. The only position that has been confirmed in Japan Nation concert was the leader because the member introduced himself like that but I won't spoil. Other then that even center was hard to guess between two of the members.

I've watched dance/reality comp shows before but nothing like Produce or Boys Planet! I have an emotional attachment of a one-year-old that's why😭 I think this might be my first and last lol They haven't really announced if NCT New Team will be in Jakarta, since on the poster it only says "SM New Boy Group" which I'm 100% is RIIZE. But most likely they will since it's a good experience and publicity at the end of the day.

I'm okay with this line-up...its the one that makes the most sense in my opinion, but I am sad about anderson not making it..I was really rooting for him. Serioursly I need to stop picking favorite trainees in this type of shows... my pick always ends up almost debuting, like my pick in boys planet was jay and he came in 10th lol But I am actually excited for this group, I like sion yushi since they were introduced and now also riku

Just like you Jeff, Jungmin is loved by so many fans. He was absent during the 2-day performances in Japan and a lot of fans on IG and Twitter were looking for him. They even sent an email to SMTown demanding updates about Jungmin's absence.💚💚

Honestly....I'm not mad, I can't even be mad. It makes the most sense, they fit and work well together and I think they'll suit NCT's colours really well. ofc, I can't help but feel a little sad for Anderson, mostly it's just that I'm going to miss him a little bit actually but Ik I'll see him someday, and he def needs to strengthen his Korean. As for NCTzens being closed off about NCTokyo and etc, It is true that they're going to have to work hard to win over many czennies but tbh....I'm not too worried, people often change the tides when they see it's not as bad as they thought (which is why they have to work hard) similar w/ RIIZE, like I know ppl were anticipating them because of sungtaro but I recall many people weren't really looking forward to seeing them outside of NCT and opposed the new group idea but once their promotions started with all those pre-debut videos and etc, ppl grew to like them pretty quick tbh, some people flipped over so fast even just cause of 1 photo or a vid they saw of a member and it made them interested LMAO so... u have to remember nctzens r being a bit stubborn rn cause of sm, and they're holding grudges but even within that preview, they look so cute and seem like they got great energy together - and seem quite funny too, once this side of them gets shared (+ if they have a successful debut stage in the concert, and actual debut in general w/ their first song) they'll be okay, they can only go up from here anyways, ppls expectations are low so it's going to be easier to sway some of them and there's always that possibility of attracting new fans too. I'm wishing them the best and I'll be keeping an eye on them <3

No news from SM! Their pre-debut song is really good and I can hear Jungmin's voice but since he was absent, I think Yushi and Sion are covering his parts and the choreography is definitely for 7 people. So I have high hopes we will see him in Tokyo

So, watching this again and I think Daeyoung a a great example of what Xiumin had said... like he wasn't good at dancing but because his vocals is so good, they were willing to look past that because vocally he's debut material.

This is such a late reply, but SHINee's Key recently talked about the formation of SHINee in one his variety show appearances, and honestly it sounds so freakishly similar to what happened in Lastart, just without any big fancy TV production. They started out with as much as 20 guys being considered for the lineup and they had multiple performances for SM higher-ups. Then they had one last performance and the announcement for the final lineup was made to all the contestants vying for a spot. SM really does have a survival show of their own away from all the cameras.

Oh right I saw that too! And just like in Lastart where we have Sion and Yushi, Shinee also had fixed members - Jongyhun, Taemin, and Minho! 20 trainees had to compete for those 2 remaining spots

I'm soo late on this but since I stan NCT as a whole, i'll automatically stan them regardless if they're a late addition to the group because since they carry the name NCT on them I consider all of NCT as one group. No either or. OT27 foreverrrrr

Rewatching the show with your reactions, honestly had forgotten so much. For me personally, being the kinda person that i need to like the wole brand to be able to enjoy and stan, i knew that whatever the outcome was, i would be following their journey. I remebered that when i was first watching the show i was very disapointed with the trainee pool that their presented, it felt lacking in so many ways and the whole concept was that they would debut shortly, they would colse off a very very very iconic, incredibly talented group, i expected more, it did not feel like a fair trade, loosing Sungtarorookies for what we receveid, and none of them seem ready to debut, nonetheless i did found myself enjoing the show every episode and i was quite ok with the final lineup. Looking back now, i feel very proud, they had such a uphill battle, actually they still have, SM put them in the worst position possible and they did not sucumbe, so i really feel proud. I continued to follow them troughout their pre-debut tour, and i saw so much growth, they have worked so hard to improve and it shows, they are enjoing being in the stage and it shows, they are taking the name nct seriously and it shows, they did not had it easy from the survival show, the absolute horrible hate and already loosing a member even before debut, but they have push tru it and is a team that is makig me proud as nctizen, can wait to see what more they have to show, exiceted for their debut this month. In another note, thank you Jeff for watching the show i have always enjoyed your reactions, you don't say things just to make the people happy, your observations are always on point but respectful, so i really do enjoy your content! P.S.: So sorry for any mistakes, english is not my mother language!
