It’s all done with coats and mirrors - that’s how the magic happens, right?

Shooting in this fabulous apartment that May likes to hire  when she comes to Melbourne, there were two things I wanted to shoot -  the large mirror in the corner of the main room, and the thigh high  boots I saw May wearing a few days earlier. The coat we threw in for fun  (and also because we were waiting for the fire to get going, but that is another set).

Lighting mirror shoots is a challenge - you are really  trying to light 2 models, and you have to keep the lights out of the mirror. It is even harder when you don’t have free reign because, say,  there is a wall on one side of the mirror. But maybe I am becoming a bit predictable, because as I placed the flashes May commented, “That is  certainly your lighting.”

Technical: Nikon D850 with NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8E lens. Two Godox AD200pro flashes in strip soft boxes with grids, one placed left of the mirror, the other near the wall to the right - carefully placed to not be seen in the reflection.
