While Dr. Wiler runs the genetic side of the Department of Human Enhancements, Dr. Yelena Alexyev runs the robotics and prosthetics side of the department. Dr. Alexyev has a much warmer demeanor than her counterpart, her love for experimentation and advancement is much less malevolent as well. Despite this, Dr. Yelena works closely with Dr. Wiler, and their combined efforts have produced results leaps and bounds beyond what they could've accomplished individually. 

Dr. Yelena believes whole-heartedly in her work, which had led to her making some debatably poor decisions. The most noteworthy of which was to deliberately remove her legs, replacing them with cybernetics of her own design. While she had to spend months in physical therapy, her faith in her work never wavered. In her eyes, it had to work, it simply had to, besides, what kind of pioneer of humanity would she be without a little sacrifice?
