Quick Update (Patreon)

I have a bike video for you today. I haven't made one in a while and was in the mood for it yesterday. Something about us ordering a new fridge, how the Daz Masterclass is coming along, and that I've finished that super difficult Ambulance Mission in GTA III. 🚑

I've been editing my bike videos from the same GoPro camera using the same Mac Mini for many years, but yesterday it just wasn't having it anymore. First noticed that iMovie had uninstalled itself, which was bizarre in itself, so I downloaded a new/old version on my ageing hardware (thankfully I had written an article on how to do this not long ago). Editing went fine, but exporting stopped at random places. I tried several times, but the video was never exported in its whole duration.

Premiere on my PC could handle it without problems, which means that perhaps its time to retire my Mac for editing purposes. It's a 2012 model, and I have my eye on one of those new Apple Studio boxes, but that's not an urgent purchase. I may have to re-think upgrading my laptop first, which is a 2011 model so that's even older. It's main job is displaying the chat and video return on our streams, and it seems to be handling it fine. 

If you're curious, I use my Mac mainly for web surfing and writing, anything text based and some light Photoshop work, due to the fact that I have that handsome 27" Thunderbolt monitor that can't be attached to anything other than a Mac. I use it side by side with my PC and have a magic Logitech MX keyboard/mouse that seamlessly switches between devices (most of the time), it even does copy and paste between operating systems. So although they are two machines, it very much looks like a dual screen setup. 

This week my plan is to start recording Part 3 of the Daz Studio Masterclass, and make a video about the Animated Shader system that lets us animate the appearance of our objects, including textures and VDBs. 

Also note to self: I really must schedule a colonoscopy - I keep forgetting to do that. No time like the present, ey 😄
