You made a very good point at the end, which leads to a certain speculation that was rampant around the time of airing of this episode (afaik still speculation even with where the LNs are at) about the choice of voice actor for the Legion that Kiri is talking to.

To clarify a few things. When Shin was racing toward the Morpho after it had decimated half of the city, the shot that broke him out of his battle trance had been fired by Kurena. On Shin's displays, it shows a Lock-On warning from a friendly unit '05 - Gunslinger' which is Kurena's unit number and personal name. Since they couldn't reach him but could still hear the voices of the Legion and were about to get overrun, she took the shot with her long 88 to get his attention so he could return and lead them. It isn't explicitly stated, but Grethe Wenzel says "Don't worry about us, I brought a spare" she's talking about her personal XM2 Reginleif that is sat inside the plane but not attached to the paradrop sleds. When she crash-lands the Nachzehrer, she uses it to get herself and the co-pilot to safety. A feature of the mech is that behind the pilot's seat is a small axillary fold-out set, which is where the co-pilot would've sat when they were retreating. I think this is the same one that gets shown at 18:00 of the episode which shows the co-pilot sitting in front of it, who is also sat beside Grethe at 0:43. Something I just realised out of all the times I've watched/rewatched 86 was that this mech is the only one which has blue-grey stripes on it whereas all other units are the same bone-white with only a few bearing a personal mark which denotes an ace pilot. This shows that this particular unit likely belongs to an experienced pilot.
