Caroline is a real one for sticking with Tyler, she's a great character with one of the best character developments. Also, we can see now why they skimmed over Mason's transformation in 2x3, because they wanted to save the first on-screen TVD werewolf transformation for Tyler, one of the main characters.

I know Tyler has been a dick for most of the show but I felt so sorry for him in this episode. I also think it was sweet (although not the smartest idea) of Caroline to stay with him. Fun fact: Michaela McManus' (Jules) husband, Mike Daniels, wrote this episode.
