I wanted to walk everyone through my illustration process that I use to come up with book covers as I'm making a series of classic literature to go along with my Frankenstein book! This time I'll be actually adding a back but for right now, the front cover illustration is what I'm focused on.

This is what a typical exploration page looks like, I test out materials and colors as well as occasionally a more full idea of my thumbnail. This time around I didn't thumbnail as I already had a concrete idea. When we get to the back cover, this is where I'll show the thumbnails.

Before I did any color, I scanned my linework to make sure that if I wanted to use it for digital coloring that I could.

After this, I picked a limited color palette for just the character. I used alcohol markers just to test the colors, but these ones aren't copics they're very cheap alternatives.

After this, I move on to the background. For this I decided to do a mix of digital and traditional.
