The way Spock pronounces words was a deliberate choice of Leonard Nimoy. He decided that Spock would have had very formal training in English, so he added a bit of an "old fashioned" way of speaking to the character.

Great reaction Ollie. Also remember the Cage was filmed in 1963 3 years before season 1. It would have been fantastic if any network had picked it up as the production values blew everyones minds at that time but its just as well as the cast we all love would have been vastly different. They actually wanted Jack Lord of Hawaii 5 O fame to play captain Kirk but he wanted to own a piece of the series which he got on Hawaii 5 O. He was Felix Lichter in Dr No and they didn't bring him back because again he wanted to be paid big time money. Cheers
