Actually, Marty's hat in 1955 in this movie is pretty accurate. I looked it up, because it looked a lot like ones I've seen before. It's called a fedora, and it pretty standard fashion for 1955. If it isn't accurate to real life, it's the kind people wear often enough in old movies that it works. I found a link with real hats like this. Check it out. There are others that are closer or more different depending on the hat if you scroll down.
