That day, Eva was just so busy dealing with a new project proposal that their company was eyeing to clinch. It was a project that would directly rival XY Corporation’s biggest product. So Eva was very interested in it and of course, she was literally burning up wanting to snatch this deal.

She was hellbent on focusing more on that project to make it successful at all costs. Her face was screaming the words ‘this is the chance I’ve been waiting for!’. And thus, the entire day was just nonstop work for her.

The tigress seemed so have fully awakened and was now on fire, promising a blazing vengeance that Gage could do nothing but watch her indulgently, smiling as he shook his head a little. He could understand why she was behaving this way too. The flames of vengeance that had been stoked not too long ago was still burning hot and furious in her. And he felt that it was fully deserving that XY Corporation was being targeted by his little tigress. He was looking forward to the future drama that would ensue once Eva carries out her revenge plans step by step on them.

And then when nighttime came, Eva had finished all her tasks without any problems as well. She had punch-kissed him and then warmed his bed, this time, without falling asleep as she had even set her alarm to the maximum volume. There was no way she would not hear this – unless she was dead.

Gage did not try to tease her tonight because he somehow could tell that it would not be possible even for him to pull Eva’s full attention to be on him. Her mind and heart were both fully focused on nothing else but her plans on vengeance – with that project that she believes would be just the thing to kick start her plans in the downfall of the XY Corp. Once they start rolling downhill, it would only be a slippery slope that they could travel, and after executing her plan, she just needed to watch and see how they crash and burn until nothing was left for even a single one of them b**tards. They all deserve to land in hell.

One glance at her and Gage could tell that he would only trigger her anger if he dared to try and disturb her unbelievable concentration.

So just like that, another day had passed by rather smoothly with Gage still letting her go on with the same normal routine.

“Such a workaholic woman.” He tsked a couple of times before muttering to himself as he stood there, smirking as he run his fingers through his hair. “Fine. I’ll let you work in peace for now.” he continued murmuring to himself as kept his gaze locked onto her while she worked at her desk so seriously. “I’m not sure how long I can behave myself, though. But I will try.” He added, talking to himself.

“Are you saying something?” she lifted her face at him. The lines between her brows appeared as she regarded him with a questioning gaze. She was quite sure she had heard him say something. But she was unsure if he was telling her something or just muttering to himself.

“I said you looked pretty hot when you’re on fire like that.” He flashed his seductive smile at her, leaning his shoulder against the wall.

Her eyes widened for a moment at that sudden flirtatious comment, before she eventually scowled and snorted very unladylike at him, and then she just returned her attention back to her work again, causing him to chuckle quietly. “As expected with my little tigress. Just loves to work herself to death.” He murmured, looking amused.

A week later.

Eva was just so incredibly relieved that Gage had not been giving her a hard time at all – especially with their nightly arrangements on the conditions of the contract! She was even shocked at first, unable to believe that the mischievous man had suddenly stopped pestering her and had started behaving perfectly like a good little boy!

He actually woke up early without needing her to nag at him. He did not try to tease her either. For some reason, he had been so cooperative for the last seven days that she truly felt grateful to him. In fact, she even thought that it was a blessing and her luck that she could work with such an understanding boss!

For the whole of last week, her schedule had really been beyond hectic, and she would not even know how her week would have gone by if Gage continued and kept up with his unreasonable and mischievous antics and had her coax him off the bed every morning.

He had also truly been a great help to her instead. Because of his helpful interventions and support, she did not feel as overworked as she had expected to be despite all the work and crazy deadlines that she had imposed on herself. Gage was… he was pretty reliable this whole week that he had been very much the total opposite of what he had claimed he was – that he was as lazy as hell.

Now here they were, out on their very first business trip together. This was also her first official trip since she had been kicked out from her previous position.

“I honestly think we really don’t need two rooms, don’t you think, Miss Lee?” Gage asked rather nonchalantly with a tone used when talking about what to have for the next meal, as they were entering a luxury hotel.

Eva just glanced sharply at him before narrowing her eyes. “I disagree, Sir. We are not a couple. You are just my boss, and I am your secretary.” She replied sternly but flashing him Evelyn Lee’s friendly and discreetly sweet smile.

He leaned over her and whispered. “Are you sure about that, darling?”

Eva literally felt the goosebumps run through her at the hot breath that touched her ear. She did not see that coming! He had stopped doing that for the last seven days and now that he was doing it again, she could not help but react rather strongly to it.

Thankfully, she had managed to stop herself before she glared or scolded her boss while others around were watching them.

“I am very sure, Sir. Never been sure of anything else ever since!” She answered in clipped tones and smiled as professionally as she could, all the while grumbling up a storm within her. She needed to have a stern word with him ASAP so he would not be doing that again!

“Then don’t blame me later.” He replied, a quick smirk was tugging at his lips. That smirk… hmm, she had a bad premonition after seeing it.
