A bit more context on how my process works. Keep in mind this is all based around deep listening, there's really no substitute for that as far as I'm aware. Ear training is like anything else, it takes practice.

That makes me smile. I started at 73, 76 now! So with slower learning at my age I will probably need another 30 years to learn to play by ear. Could play in my first session when I'm 106. Will stick to sheet music for learning, build up a repertoire and enjoy life. I do the deep listening bit though and that helps.

Lulz same here. The ancient age of 33. Although I had a significant background playing saxophone and the fingerings are largely the same so that helped.
