Can’t wait to see you two react to this!

T.wiley

Awesome x

T.wiley

Have either of them seen attack on Titan or has it been mentioned yet on the channel? Would be a great watch when we eventually got to it

Jesse S

Absolutely. If they do watch it I hope they watch the Japanese version, the acting is so much better than the English version

T.wiley

Imo I'd say the dubbed is better, but hey ho it's all personal preference. Probably better for anyone new to anime to watch the dubbed though otherwise it can be a little overwhelming

Chris Bruneau

Maple: "I want to ride your worm"--I almost spit out my coffee on the keyboard!!!! LMFAO. jeez, these two are absolute fire when they get together to react!!!!

Julian Avila

To me Stilgar (Paul’s hype man) is such an interesting character in this movie. At first he is played for laughs with his “as written” but when Paul first rides the worm, you can see the religious fervor in his eyes and you can tell from that moment on he would do anything for Paul in a very bad way. It’s scary for me to see given some current events in the world👀

Gabriel

yes please! do a longer discussion!

Zech

Maple, so beautiful but in love with Arianna! Lol. Yall, this was a great reaction! Lol. Third time watching but watching along with you two was great! Lol. Love the content Chad and ladies

Japanese voice acting always goes way harder, and maintains the more adult theme of most of the shows. I feel like the English dub actors don't really get the memo on a lot of this stuff and default to Saturday morning cartoon. One Piece is a great example of that, I tried watching the dub and it ruins the entire vibe. The only dubs I've seen that aren't so bad they detract from the source material are One Punch Man, Attack on Titan, FMA and My Hero Academia.

Bodhi

convo w chad would be fun!

Denis only plans to adapt the second book, Dune: Messiah.

T.wiley

Again it's all personal preference but dubbed has come along way in it's years. The latest stuff being outstanding compared to older dub.

Hi ladies, as someone who also didn't really have any clue into any Dune lore, I would seriously recommend finding some time to watch 'The Lorebrarians' Dune lore breakdown. It's 45 minutes and gives a really nice breakdown of the events leading to this timeline in the universe, and you can always stop watching when it's caught up to the end of this film. It helped me a lot in learning and understanding things. Awesome reaction, nonetheless!

Herbert complained that many readers thought Paul was the hero. To make Herbert's original aim clearer, Villeneuve changed Chani's character so that she acts as the moral view of the audience . But it's so heartbreaking that she loses basically everything. Her love, her people, her idealism. I'll be interested to see what path, if any, Villeneuve creates for Chani in Messiah.

2024-05-07 10:05:39 Hilarious that you mention the sexual tension between Feyd and Paul since, as stated in Part 1, Jessica was supposed to bear a daughter to Leto. The Bene Gesserit wanted to marry a female Paul to Feyd, bringing Atreides and Harkonnen together, and their child presumably would have been the true desired Kwisatz Haderach of the Bene Gesserit.

This has to be their best reaction really entertaining all around!

I'd like to say thanks to maple for holding off on watching

Honestly, watching the movies before going to the books helps build the world even more since it’s a pretty dense read first time through. The first two movies finish the first book so you won’t have to worry about spoilers. Also would take a look into more Denis films. I know you’ve watched quite a few on the channel already but would take a look at ‘Incendies’ if you ever get the chance.

I would love a discussion vid if you think there is stuff to talk about. Personally, I find Dune so interesting because of the influence it had on sci-fi and also its a very unusual kind of story. "Beware charismatics leaders" and Paul ends up kinda the bad guy. Not a typical heroes journey for sure. The film is just a clinic in blockbuster movie making, I could gush but I think its pretty obvious.

Frank Herbert was inspired by the film Lawrence of Arabia when he wrote Dune. You guys should watch that film. One of the best ever made.

Chris

Fun fact I'm sure someone else has mentioned: If Paul had been born a woman as intended by the Bene Gesseritt, the plan was to convince Leto to marry femPaul to Feyd Rautha to end the Atriedes-Harkonnen feud and potentially give birth to the Kwisatz Haderach. So that sexual tension between them is HILARIOUS. Also, incredible credit to Timothee for making Paul feel like a entirely different, and somehow darker, person after he takes the Water. Kinda feels like you can even see him pause to check possible futures a few times before he responds or acts afterwards too.

I have one of the AMC popcorn buckets. I had it shipped from the US to Europe 🤣its a fun collectible now because of the viral clips

If you can find it in theaters somewhere still, it MUST be watched in a theater, in IMax if possible. Its the only movie Ive ever left and had to watch again because the sound was putting me into some kind of overload/shock. Like missing entire plot points or the visuals just being a blur because the sound was frying my brain. And yes, the black sun on the Harkonnen planet bleaches out all color while in the direct light. They get a little color back when in shadow or indoors.

wait until they find out Dune: Messiah takes place a decade later lol
