Chinhaya is 17, shouldn't Aya and Saki be 15? https://www.patreon.com/posts/32586934 https://www.deviantart.com/wave-lens/art/479526097

Very observant - I have to say that old introduction was off. When I was recently re-doing Episode One I noticed Aya mention that she was in the seventh grade (age 13) that summer. Now it's the fall of the following year and she (as well as her peer Saki) is 14. Also, when kids get to the ninth grade (age 15), they tend to get busy with preparing for the high school entrance exam, pausing any extracurricular activities, so it would be much harder for Saki to blend in.

Fun, interesting characters :)

I was also pretty sure Aya and Saki were 15. Regardless of age what they’ve accomplished is mighty impressive, but now we’re talking about middle-schoolers being the ones to do it? Kids these days truly are built different. On a different note, will the Five Minute Summer series published here include “Five Minute Summer” (ChihAya’s dive with the photographer into the Yaeyama-Maru for school money) or will we be skipping straight to Apnea Girl Meets Girl?

Does that mean Aya is only 12 years old in "Diving girls"? Her birthday is August 25th, it's almost the start of the second semester of Japanese school. Chihaya must back Toyko that day. And Chihaya is already a junior in high school, she will turning 18 at December 10th this year. Then she had to prepare for the entrance exam for the university. So would she able to back Miyako this winter vacation? Saki's birthday you nerver told us.

Ah excellent. But let us state here that, since those b-days appear only in the interactive novel "Five Minute Summer" (confusing title, I know) and since the novel has never been brought to Patreon, they are not official. And there are a couple of reasons why this alternate "Five Minute Summer" is not shown here as part of the official series. First, it's a spinoff and does not affect the main storyline, while other stories do. Second, the male protagonist eventually evolved into Ken, so there's an overlap between these characters (especially the manner they first encounter Chihaya underwater). Third, the story has been accessible for free for a long time, so does not make much sense to relocate it to our Patreon site which is a 'gated' paid-for community. Lastly, these is a particular explicit scene in the story which won't stand well against Patreon's ground rules....And to add, another minor inconvenience is that in one panel there's a calendar of a particular year behind Aya, which would suggest no one in the series should be accessing SNS on their smartphones the way they do :-)

So what I’m getting from this. 1: Five minutes summer (the OG story with that name). Is not canon then? Does this mean that the cousin never got photograph and went into a sport magazine then? Because I saw that the community did do some interesting things with that. As well as Miyako diaries seemed to build up to them getting some notice online. 2. Was the explicit scene one of the “bad” endings? As could you not remove them in that case? 3. Yeah changing the dates when the characters are born is fair enough. Especially if you want them to have access to modern tech. 4. You know this would not make Saki and Aya legal now especially with the new law that is put in place in Japan. But I guess that is another reason to go with Eri nowadays lol ;)

I would not say those things never happened. They’re just occurring in an alternate universe, or universes because the characters seem capable of traveling back in time to make new choices:-) Sort of like Evangelion where they like to introduce new games featuring new Angels…but then all Angels are numbered and everyone dies at the end so it’s actually very odd to have new plots and Angels.
