**LUCKY HEADPHONE WARNINGS**  

OH HO HO -- well, uhm....so this match is over...and...you might have to allow me to fangirl about ALL the things that happen in this episode, because it's a LOT for this penultimate episode! I wasn't expecting us to get where we are SO SOON, but I am NOT complaining!  

OT3 Land, here we COME! *maniacal laugh* I'm going to miss this show while it's on hiatus! Let's savor these last few episodes!

Rin really took everything extremely seriously, it's not good enough to win, if he didn't control 100% of the match he consider himself lose. Rin be like: Though I out-scored you, played better for 99% of the match, but since you out-read me once I am gonna pick you, join me Isagi

Oh yeah, Rin maaaaaaay want complete control over things...which....hopefully will involve some growth for him in the future, because as the Rolling Stones say, "You can't always get what you want!" We'll see, though! Thanks for the comment!

Loved the reaction and discussion! One of my fav BLLK eps for sure. There are a lot of callbacks in this episode. Like when Isagi blocked Bachira’s shot and thought, “I believe in you, and that’s why I win!” Bachira said the exact same thing in ep 2 about believing that Isagi would be there to kick the ball and eliminate Kira. It’s beautiful how much faith they have in each other’s evolution or ego. And right before the match with the World 5, Bachira joins Isagi’s training, and Isagi thinks, “This guy definitely gives me courage.” In ep 2, Isagi thinks, “He gives me courage.” Love the addition of the word “definitely,” showing Isagi gaining confidence in himself and his relationship with Bachira. Ego’s narration during the final play of the match was so good and so devastating! This series had made a lot of bold and unpredictable decisions. Isagi wasn't able to choose Rin like he wanted in ep 12-13, and more recently Isagi wasn't able to keep his promise to Bachira of getting him back, but it worked out all in the end! The development from Rin not caring who gets chosen and leaving it up to Aryu and Toki to now Rin solely picking, “No objections allowed.” My heart stopped. All I wished for was Rin acknowledging Isagi, and I got much more than that this episode haha. Rin’s “Come, Isagi Yoichi. You will watch me become the best in the world at my side.” reminded me a little of Atsumu’s “Shoyo-kun... I’m gonna be setting to you one day.” Rin using Isagi’s full name made it sound even more like a proposal lol. Also, Rin using his name instead of NPC also reminds me of how Barou called Isagi by his name instead of donkey for the first time after the 3v3 match in ep 18, which shows the respect they gained for Isagi. I like the anime subtitle translation of Rin’s line, but more accurately in Japanese, Rin says, "You'll be the closest to me as I become the best in the world." I like how more specific “the closest to me” is, while Crunchyroll’s “at my side” I think is more vague. Also, before that, Rin says, “I won’t let you sink back down.” I think it really fits with his water theme, and you can also think of it as Rin not letting the ships sink lol—the Bachisagi ship, Rinsagi ship, and the OT3. I love how we only got Rin’s choice confirmed, while Isagi’s choice between Bachira or Rin, and Bachira’s choice between Isagi or someone else are both ambiguous. I think if Isagi’s team won, Isagi would’ve more likely chosen Rin if Bachira hadn’t evolved, but since Bachira did evolve, if Isagi’s team won, I think it would've been more a toss up of who Isagi would choose. I interpreted Bachira's feelings about Isagi at the end of that match as “I don’t *need* to be with you anymore, but now I *want* to be with you.” Him overcoming his dependence or needs and now being able to respond to his desires or wants. It kinda feels like the opposite of Nagi choosing others over Reo. I think Nagi wants to be able to play Reo, but Nagi feels that for now he needs to play with others in order to grow and do what excites him. I loved the whole luck speech and your commentary on it. I adore how much characterization Rin gets in this episode, I’m gonna gush more than a bit. I appreciate how straightforward and honest Rin is about admitting his reasons for and feelings of defeat and his acknowledgement of Isagi’s ability. It’s a great contrast to Isagi being overconfident, thinking that he defeated Rin, and initially not being able to fully accept his defeat. Rin and Isagi are both self-critical, and it’s really cool how mutual it is that Isagi and Rin believe that they lost to each other in that match. Alright, time to talk about the VAs of the World 5, except Loki since he didn't talk. Leonardo Luna is voiced by Kamio Shinichiro - Kaede Rukawa (The First Slam Dunk - 2022 movie). Adam Blake is voiced by Takahashi Daisuke - Yoru from Valorant (both the Japanese and English voices). It’s so impressive. Pablo Cabassos is voiced by Komada Wataru - I don’t know if you watched Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War but he voices a character from there. Dada Silva is voiced by Robert Waterman who has an English name despite being a Japanese VA, and this is his 3rd credited role. Loki is clearly inspired by the professional soccer player Kylian Mbappe. They have a similar appearance, both are French and child prodigies. Loki is 17, and Mbappe started playing professionally when he was 16. Mbappe is currently 25 and the face of French soccer. Julian Loki’s name is similar to Kylian Mbappe’s name: Julian - Kylian, and Loki resembles Mbappe’s second surname Lottin. Where do I even start with the yoga scene? I love that we learn that Rin has a daily yoga routine and takes care of his body and mind. It’s really funny that after Rin audibly breathes, we cut to Isagi shakily copying Rin’s yoga pose AND his breathing. It's a little obsessive if you ask me lol. Another neat detail is Isagi lays his mat next to Rin’s but a few feet further back. Their mats not being exactly side by side representing Isagi wanting to catch up to Rin. I love how Rin opens up to Isagi a little bit when he answers Isagi’s question about him and Sae. Isagi declaring to Rin that he’s his rival is so cute, even if it wasn’t reciprocated lol. And then Rin showing off with his non-yoga pose. This whole scene was so adorable. Oh and fun fact! There’s a coincidence pertaining to Isagi’s and Rin’s birthdays. Isagi’s bday is 4/1. Rin’s bday is 9/9. The middle day between 4/1 and 9/9 is 6/20-6/21, which is International Yoga Day (6/21). The middle day between 9/9 and 4/1 is 12/20-12/21, which is Fried Shrimp Day (12/21). So Rinsagi’s middle birthdays are related to their characters. There’s no way that Kaneshiro knew about this. It must be fate. It’s insane. I thank the Japanese fandom on Twitter for finding this out.

Oohhhhhh, that is such a great parallel with the “I believe in you” line! I forgot it tied back to that moment! And the courage line! I love that they are cementing their faith in one another! My shipper heart is happy! Ego’s narration was definitely heartbreaking, but here we are with them on the same team at last! Oohhh, I have thoughts on that comparison to Atsumu, but I’ll save it for the final episode’s intro! ;) But definitely agree that the Rin x Isagi ship fully sets sail out of the harbor this episode! Definitely a parallel to Barou in showing the respect to Isagi! With that translation - definitely will talk in the intro for ep 24 about it! ;) Rin not letting the ships sink either? I’ll TAKE IT. I agree with you, though, that Bachira “wanted” Isagi to be picked instead of “needing” him, which is a BIG step and I love it! And that’s a great note about Nagi and Reo! Rin and Isagi are definitely more alike than they may even realize and I am REALLY excited based on this episode to see how much they help each other grow – I can see why Bachira wanted to play with both! BUT THOSE BIRTHDAYS….Uhm….I’m not so sure that Kaneshiro DIDN’T know about it…if they’re secretly shipping, maybe they did some research? 😛That is INSANITY, though! The fact that Luna is voiced by the same VA as Kaede is hilarious and wonderful! Thank you for the VA information! Oohhhhhh, the ties to Mbappe are so interesting! I wonder if he reads Blue Lock?? Isagi is a sponge and the genius of adaptability – and has a voracious appetite, so I’m not surprised he’s SO determined to copy Rin and figure out what makes him “tick.” And that note about the mat placement is GREAT! The whole scene is a shipper’s dream and I LOVE that Isagi is now Rin’s rival! It’s so cute and I cannot WAIT to see how their rivalry develops – I just hate we only have one more episode! 🙁I want Blue Lock to continue, but hopefully we don’t have too long to wait for Season 2!
