*TRANSFORMATIVE HEADPHONE WARNINGS*

We are in new ground with Berserk, but dealing with an old "foe" from the Golden Age arc - who is NOT AT ALL what they seem and has a much more disturbing backstory than I could have imagined!

There's a lot of bugs, a lot of children, and a lot of Puck and Guts being the craziest good cop, bad cop duo! Let's talk about this, y'all!

Thank you for watching with me and for all the support!

I haven’t finished the entire video yet but I just wanna drop by!! I’ve never actually heard or seen the interviews with the mangaka himself so it’s definitely interesting. Having this additional context with his characters really is amazing. It’s… a little disheartening and dare I even say disappointing some of the fandom are “agree to disagree” on the “takes” on Casca. Miura is VERY self aware, that’s what really makes this whole situation frustrating. I just knew ppl were gonna bring up that men in this series also get assaulted but yall… it’s clearly one sided. The difference is literally night from day. “Well if this didn’t happen to Casca would you still critique.” Perhaps not as much but it’s still a criticism that’s been building up. Yes this is fantasy/fiction. But the mangaka clearly knows how easy humanity can be manipulated and that person asking about “If Casca enjoyed-“ I just lost brain cells. Why would you ask that?? And Miura could have easily admitted that he perhaps didn’t talk with sa victims or even taken women’s perspectives into account. Casca isn’t based on anyone he’s met really.. it kinda shows ngl. I just- I will also drop this matter. I don’t mean to be negative about the entire series. It’s just.. exhausting, we’ll just see where we go on from here. Do us proud Miura 😅 It’s been a while since I’ve read berserk but I haven’t forgotten much, I realize now. Lost Children huh? Inch-resting, what could we possibly have in store… I’m sure it’s fine haha.

Yeah, I'm definitely not going to sit here and say Miura is without criticism - no author is! I love Berserk and Miura is an incredible writer, but there is definitely a double-standard with the female characters in the series (so far) that has left a sour taste in my mouth. We'll see how Miura - as they mature through this series as an author - develops his treatment of female characters in comparison, and if Casca has some redemption given to her character -- I'm all here for it and waiting for the story to prove me wrong -- but it is sad to see some of the fandom lack empathy because they've not experienced the horrors of assault and having that agency and power taken from them -- it's a somewhat selfish "well that didn't happen to me, so I don't care about it" mentality that is quite frustrating. But I digress, I'm still loving the series, so we'll see where it goes! But I appreciate your support and kindness in this comment! Thanks!
